Sibling for Bennett

We have a wonderful 3 year old son named Bennett. We are expecting our second child in a few months and are not finding out the gender. So we are looking for both a boy and girl name to have ready before baby arrives.

Currently, we feel pretty good about 2 girls names. We are stuggling to agree on a boy name because we love the name Bennett so much that we just can’t find another boys name that feels as perfect. I put our top names for each below. We would love to hear your suggestions for the perfect sibling name to go with our sweet Bennett.

Girl Names: Parker, Finley
Middle name will be Catherine

Boy Names: Elliott (nn Eli), Easton, Asher
Middle name will most likely be Robert or Roberts

Of your boy name choices, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] feels like the most natural brother to [name_u]Bennett[/name_u]. [name_u]Eli[/name_u] less so, unless [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] goes by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] sometimes… in which case, absolutely perfect.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_u]Bennett[/name_u] is a great name. I love [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] for his brother. But I feel like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] nn [name_u]Eli[/name_u] is kind of an awkward stretch. I’d prefer just [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] or just [name_u]Eli[/name_u]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_u]Elijah[/name_u] or [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] nn [name_u]Eli[/name_u]. [name_u]Easton[/name_u] feels very trendy to me, & not as handsome & classic as [name_u]Bennett[/name_u]. [name_u]Asher[/name_u] is really cool. Kind of gentle & artsy, but rugged & outdoorsy at the same time.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Thank you for the reply. [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] does go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] sometimes which is why we felt [name_u]Eli[/name_u] would fit as a nickname for [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] if it suits him. Also, thank you for the additional suggestions. We like [name_u]Reed[/name_u] and [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u].

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any feelings on the girls names we selected? We are open to opinions and suggestions there too even though we feel a little more settled on those.

Thank you for the reply. We agree [name_u]Eli[/name_u] may be a stretch of a nickname. We just like that [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] can go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] sometimes if he chooses so we wanted to give baby a similar option. We like your additional suggestion of [name_m]Silas[/name_m].

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any feelings on the girl names we have selected. We would love input on if those go well with [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] or if you have any other suggestions.

[name_u]Parker[/name_u] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] are lovely!

[name_u]Asher[/name_u] [name_u]Robert[/name_u] would be lovely, but with [name_u]Bennett[/name_u], I’ll also suggest…

[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_u]Maxwell[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_m]Clark[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]

Before I even shaw it on the list I thought [name_u]Asher[/name_u] was perfect. The meaning and the sound. The only hitch would be the r at the end of [name_u]Asher[/name_u] and the beginning of [name_u]Robert[/name_u], but I still like it. [name_u]Parker[/name_u] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] are great! I guess I like [name_u]Parker[/name_u] the best.

other ideas for boys names:

[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
[name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_u]Leon[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]

You’ve had some great suggestions so far and I love your girl name options! [name_m]Just[/name_m] want to throw out the suggestion of Logan…namely because there is a sibset of [name_u]Parker[/name_u] & [name_u]Logan[/name_u] in my family and I think they are wonderful together, but also because [name_u]Logan[/name_u] & [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] (and maybe a future Parker/Finley sister) are a great pair!

Yes, I love Bennett/Ben & Elliott/Eli. Fantastic set. And I’m glad you found some you liked on my list. It’s funny you mentioned [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u], because that was the one I was most excited about suggesting. :blue_heart:

Since you asked about girls’ names… I think [name_u]Parker[/name_u] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] are very cute girl names. However, because your style for boys is also surnames, arguably unisex, I do think [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] & [name_u]Parker[/name_u] or [name_u]Bennett[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], & [name_u]Finley[/name_u] do sound like they could all be brothers. The question is simply whether that bothers you. If it doesn’t bother you that some may assume or ask you to differentiate, then I’d say you have a clear style and you should totally go for it. I adore [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] as a middle, whatever you choose.

I’m happy to make suggestions for other girl names (really just because it’s fun, not because you need them). If you love these kinds of names, but it WOULD bother you to clarify their sexes in conversation, maybe look for “unisex” names that have more female usage than male. I know [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is used by both, but I only know male Parkers. I know two Finleys, two different sexes, so that is more clearly unisex to me. The lines are blurring a lot these days, so I don’t know how clearly defined EVERY name is, but some of my favorites for girls in this category are Greer/Grier and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], which are both heavily female.
