My sister’s called [name]Carrie[/name] and her husband’s name’s [name]Carl[/name], so they decided to stay with the “C” theme. They had three boys, and the original idea was that they should only have “C” in common, but they ended up with [name]Charles[/name], [name]Chauncey[/name] and [name]Chandler[/name], who became [name]Chuck[/name], [name]Chance[/name] and [name]Chad[/name].
They just found out they’re having a baby girl, and they would really like to stay on the theme, so they’ve thought of [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name], but, although they start with “Ch”, they don’t sound the same…
I just thought you guys could maybe help them out… I’ve suggested [name]Charlie[/name], but her brother’s name is [name]Charles[/name], and it would be too weird… Please, help us!
Some are probably more acceptable than others but I figure I’d thow everything out there I could come up with, you never know what sparks inspiration. I particularly like [name]Chantilly[/name] and [name]Chastity[/name].
The only two girl names I can think of at the moment that start with the same “ch” sound would be [name]Charity[/name] and [name]Cherish[/name]. I know a family with 5 siblings names all starting with that same sound. The two girls are the names I mentioned.
Seems they want not just the ‘ch’ beginning but the ‘ch’ sound as well? That cuts out a lot of options eg [name]Christabel[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name]
I understand they want to keep it all the same but to me even if it doesnt have the ‘ch’ sound the daughter will still love her name and being tied in with the family but also slightly unique in that sense.
I would suggest [name]Cherise[/name] but that is pronounced 'sher-ees like many of the female ‘ch’ names are said ‘sh’ ([name]Charlotte[/name]!)
I reckon clarify what they are looking for, and whether they would consider a non ‘ch’ sounding ch name.
[name]Charmion[/name] - Ancient Greek name, means “delight.”
[name]Charity[/name] - old-fashioned virtue name
Chasina- Aramaic for “mighty”
[name]Chesney[/name]
I also like [name]Christobel[/name] and [name]Chloris[/name], which have a hard C sound. And the Hebrew [name]Channah[/name], which sounds a lot like [name]Hannah[/name], and would be out of place with sibs here.
I think [name]Charlotte[/name] is great with [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Chauncey[/name]/[name]Chandler[/name]… and since [name]Charles[/name] is [name]Chuck[/name], she could use the nn [name]Charlie[/name]. Or [name]Cherry[/name], if that’s your thing.
[name]Chandra[/name] comes to mind (chawn-dra) but it is pretty close to [name]Chauncey[/name]. There aren’t many girl names with the “CH” sound so they’ll probably have to go masculine
[name]Channing[/name] (too close to [name]Chandler[/name]?)
Chai (might get a lot of “like latte?” questions)
[name]Chaplin[/name]
Since she’s the only girl I think it’s good to have her name stand apart from the boys. Maybe suggest that she have a “Car-” name like mom and dad?
[name]Carlisle[/name]
[name]Carissa[/name]
[name]Carys[/name]
[name]Carmen[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]/[name]Carolyn[/name]/[name]Carolina[/name]
Carrington
I like the previous suggestions of [name]Charity[/name], Chapel, [name]Chaplin[/name], [name]Cherish[/name] (nm [name]Cherry[/name]?) and [name]Chelsea[/name]. With [name]Charity[/name] you have the added bonus nm [name]Charlie[/name] or Charm, and it allows you to continue the “Cha” theme, so my votes on [name]Charity[/name]
This is a pretty difficult brief so the only yet to be suggested name I can think of is [name]China[/name]. If the baby was a boy I’d suggest [name]Chester[/name].
I think it’s too close to have a [name]Charlotte[/name] and a [name]Charles[/name]. I do like [name]Charity[/name] and [name]Chiara[/name] and [name]Chaplin[/name] is a very cute idea. I like [name]China[/name] too, though a lot of the other names are dated or unattractive to me, so why pick them just to continue this Ch theme?
A few other ideas: [name]Christiana[/name]. And the out-of-the-box [name]Christmas[/name].
I think this is the way to go! She’ll end up with a much more beautiful name as opposed to “Oh we named you Chapstick because we had to stay with the theme!”
[name]Channing[/name] is very cute, but it is rather unisex and people might assume they had 4 boys… I like [name]Chelsea[/name] or [name]Charity[/name]. =]
