We are expecting a sibling for our son, [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] and my husband and I are having trouble finding a boy name we agree on. Some that have been tossed around include : [name_u]Sascha[/name_u], [name_m]Angus[/name_m], [name_m]Ewan[/name_m], and [name_m]Hamish[/name_m]. I would love some new, inspired ideas to discuss with my hubby. We seem to prefer classic, less-common names, nothing kre8tif.
We have two girl names that we love ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] ) , but if anyone has any exciting ideas, let’s hear them!
[name_u]Sascha[/name_u] - too girly for my taste
[name_m]Angus[/name_m] - I only think of beef
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m] - for whatever reason this is one of the hardest names for me to pronounce
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m] - [name_m]Ham[/name_m]…
Sorry if that sounded harsh - they just aren’t my style…
Other suggestions: (which probably aren’t your style - lol)
[name_u]Sascha[/name_u]: I love unisex, but these days considered “girly,” names for boys. [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], etc…
[name_m]Angus[/name_m]: Yes! I would love to run into an [name_m]Angus[/name_m]. Unlike pp, it doesn’t make me think of the beef. I love Irish names and think this or [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] would sound wonderful with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m].
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m]: I like it, but don’t think [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] would be a good sibling for [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. The -n endings are too repetitive.
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m]: I love, love [name_m]Hamish[/name_m]. Again unlike pp, it does not remind me of ham. The pronunciations are totally different. This or [name_m]Angus[/name_m] works perfectly in a sibset with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m].
I like [name_u]Sascha[/name_u], [name_m]Angus[/name_m] & [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. All three names are really handsome and I went to school with a [name_m]Hamish[/name_m], I always really liked his name.
I agree that [name_u]Sascha[/name_u], [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] and [name_m]Angus[/name_m] sound great with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. My first choice would probably be [name_m]Angus[/name_m].
I am not a fan of [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] as it is a bit feminine to me, but [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] and [name_m]Angus[/name_m] sound like good options for you. I personally am not a huge fan of [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] but I think it works well with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. I do like [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and the cute nickname [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. Not sure if [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] goes by [name_u]Finn[/name_u] at all, but [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is a cute set of brothers!
Here are some other suggestions (sorry for any repeats!)
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_m]Callahan[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucius[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
I really like [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] & [name_m]Ewan[/name_m]! I think [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] is a little better just because it doesn’t end in an “n”. [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] is lovely (I’m guessing it’s for a boy?) but I don’t think it pairs well with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. If you were going to go the [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] route for a male it would pair better with another male name that’s a bit softer. [name_u]Chris[/name_u] Hemsworth actually did this quite well with twin boys [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] & [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. To me [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] is pretty masculine, so I might assume [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] was a girl next to [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. [name_m]Angus[/name_m] is a strong name but just not my style. If you love it though, [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] & [name_m]Angus[/name_m] definitely works! (And [name_u]Finn[/name_u] & [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is super cute, as someone has already said).
I love [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] - I like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] less, though [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] might work with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] ([name_u]Sacha[/name_u] is a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] in most Slavic languages).
I totally second the suggestions of [name_m]Fergus[/name_m], [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] and [name_m]Iver[/name_m] – I would add
[name_m]Anton[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Marius[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
