[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries! [name_f]My[/name_f] wife and I just found out we are pregnant with our third baby, and I have already begun to think about names! We have a three year old named [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and a one year old Named [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] (Shep). I tend to enjoy names that are vintage and uncommon, but recognizable and not too “out there.” I usually come up with name suggestions, and my wife tells me which ones they like. They aren’t much of a name nerd!

Feminine names…

• [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_f]Dorcas[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]. I have really been enjoying names that are a bit “dowdy” recently. I think the only name I would consider using here is [name_f]Maude[/name_f], but I would love your opinions and suggestions!

• [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] (Bea) I adore [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f], but it doesn’t go very well with [name_m]Shep[/name_m] or [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. I fear it is rising quite steadily in popularity.

• [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] A top contender, but I cannot stand all of the associations. There is a new [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Styles[/name_m] song named “Matilda.” There is a prominent influencer named [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] Djerf. And, I know others will disagree, but I don’t like the [name_m]Roald[/name_m] Dhal association. I also fear this name is rising in popularity.

• [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (Frankie)

• [name_f]Helena[/name_f]

• [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] (Prue)

• [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and all of its variations. I love “Clemmie” as a nickname, but I can’t stand the fruit association!

• [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]

Now for more masculine names…

• [name_u]Judah[/name_u] (Jude) I would use [name_u]Jude[/name_u] for a girl, but I don’t like the name [name_f]Judith[/name_f]. This name is also pretty popular!

• [name_u]Asa[/name_u] Again, I would use this for a boy or girl.

• [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] (Shy) I don’t like that [name_f]Angelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] has a child named this. I feel like every time I mention this name, someone makes a comment about her! But, seriously, [name_u]Shy[/name_u] and [name_m]Shep[/name_m]! How cute!

• [name_u]Pax[/name_u] Again, boy or girl. Apparently [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and I have similar tastes in names…

• [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]

• [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] I love this name, but, again, I don’t like it with [name_m]Shep[/name_m].

• [name_m]Otis[/name_m]

I actually love [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] with [name_m]Shep[/name_m]!
I also think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] fits the best with the sibset… esp if use [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] as a nn.

[name_f]Maude[/name_f] is pretty charming, clunky vintage

[name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] is sparky and cute - I can see it with [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] would be a more expected fit though

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is strong and pretty, and while I kind of just see it as a name with associations but not ones that overwhelm, I probably wouldn’t use it if I were you, since those associations do worry you.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] ‘Frankie’ is cute and classy

Looking at your girl names I really love in your sibling set [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for me these are dreamy. Onto your boys I love so many but in my opinion a lot of them don’t feel ‘perfect’ I think [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] is gorgeous however not keen on repeated S initials. [name_u]Pax[/name_u] is cool but doesn’t have the same whimsical vintage flair off [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. However I think [name_u]Judah[/name_u] does work but would prefer just [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] has more of a cohesive feel.
