Sibling for Freya?

We are now ttc for baby number 2!!! But we desperately need name inspiration. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] was the only name we both loved when we were pregnant with her, now we still can’t agree on any names! I like a bit more over-the-top names, whereas he seems like the opposite end this time around! He loved [name_f]Freya[/name_f] which is outside of the simple known classics, so I’m hoping I can find that sweet spot name to push him out of his comfort zone.

Names I like:

[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Augustina[/name_f]

Names he likes:

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

For a boy we have narrowed it down to three names we agree on, if this helps!:

[name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_m]Roland[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]

Thank you!!

Thank you for the suggestion  [name_f]Alba[/name_f] is a pretty name, but I am not a huge fan of it to use. Thank you :).

Thank you for commenting about our boys names too, [name_m]George[/name_m] is definitely my favourite! My husband loves [name_m]Anders[/name_m] and [name_m]Roland[/name_m] more (it is funny how on boy names we are flipped in styles, I like the more classic one, and his are a bit more outside of that! I do love [name_m]Anders[/name_m] and [name_m]Roland[/name_m] as well though.

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] are my favourites with [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. Such lovely names! [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] would be nice, too.

Hello! I really like a lot of the names on your list. I think all 3 boys names work great with [name_f]Freya[/name_f], my personal favorite of the 3 is [name_m]Anders[/name_m]. As for girls I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is my favorite paired with [name_f]Freya[/name_f].

Some more girl suggestions:

[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]

Wilhemina (I love this name! Might be a bit much for your husband but it has the cute nicknames of [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Mina[/name_f], amongst others)

[name_f]Evadne[/name_f] (one of my all time faves. Nickname options of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. Similar feel to [name_f]Daphne[/name_f])

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]

[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is lovely!

Here are my thoughts on your lists:

[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]-I don’t care for this name for some reason. I just think it’s too stuffy.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]-I love this. It’s smart & sophisticated, but sweet & kind as well.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]-This is nice. It’s kind of like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in that it’s smart & kind. There are a ton of [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f]/Addisons running around though, so it kind of ruins other ‘[name_m]Ad[/name_m]’ names for me.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]-Kind of cute. It kind of lacks substance compared to [name_f]Freya[/name_f], but it sort of fits the style at the same time.

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]-I’m not a huge fan of this, but it’s fine. A little bit too much.

[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]-This is okay. I don’t love it for some reason, but it’s not bad.

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]-This is nice. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] & [name_f]Thea[/name_f] are perfect.

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]-Very nice. Classy & pretty. I like the nns [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] & [name_u]Georgie[/name_u].

[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]-This is different. I like the nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] a lot.

[name_f]Florence[/name_f]-This is okay. I like old lady names, but this one is a little too old lady for me. And I don’t care for two 'F’s.

[name_f]Augustina[/name_f]-Wow, I’ve never heard this name. I think I’ve heard [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], but this is different. I’m not sure how I feel about it, but it’s interesting.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]-Well, that is boring compared to your list. Nice name, but way over done.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]-I love this name, but it’s pretty different than [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. Lots of cute nns. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Bess[/name_f], [name_f]Bette[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f].

Oh, & for a boy [name_m]Anders[/name_m] is awesome w/[name_f]Freya[/name_f].

Girl suggestions:

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]

[name_f]Anda[/name_f]

[name_u]Vida[/name_u]

[name_f]Willa[/name_f]

[name_f]Zella[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Thank you for the great suggestions! A few we couldn’t use owing to personal connections. But here are some from your list I do like:

[name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

[name_m]Will[/name_m] have to show these forum responses to my husband and see what he thinks. Thanks again!

Thank you! I have always liked [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] but have never been able to get my husband on board lol! I’ve also loved [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] for a long time but cannot use it as my daughters friend is a [name_f]Willa[/name_f]!

Thank you for the great suggestions! I like:

[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] (which could be a name my husband could get on board with…as he loves [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and the nickname [name_u]Izzy[/name_u])
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]

Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.

I like:

[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] & [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]

I also sort of like [name_u]Marian[/name_u] but I think I prefer the [name_u]Marion[/name_u] spelling. Thank you!!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]? I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!

For a boy, [name_m]Anders[/name_m] is adorable.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Elida[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]?

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] is fantastic with [name_f]Freya[/name_f]! It’s a shame he doesn’t like it, because there’s a lot of history behind it, like with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (though not nearly as much). It isn’t just a recent trend, it was in the top 10 from 1886 to 1906!

Since you’re gonna get a ton of new names, I’m gonna try something different where I either try to spruce up your husband’s picks or ground yours a little more with alternatives - maybe then you guys will agree on a compromise name? Sorry if this is a stupid idea, I just want to give it a go!

I find [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] quite plain too, but I really enjoy some of its alternatives! [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] come to mind, though he might not spring for the latter.

I do find [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] plain and overdone (as classic as it is), but [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is fresh and lighter? There’s also [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lisbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f].

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] are slightly less princess-y than [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]?

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], which shouldn’t be too far out of his comfort zone!

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is sweet - how about [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]?

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is stunning and one of my favourite names! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] comes to mind, which is more common and closer to your hubby’s comfort zone.

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] could have [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] as an alternative?

If you like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], you may also want to consider [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]. It’s an old variant of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but is even less common than [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. I think it goes swimmingly with [name_f]Freya[/name_f].

FWIW, [name_m]Anders[/name_m] is absolute perfection with [name_f]Freya[/name_f].

[name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] to go with [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
To go with [name_f]Freya[/name_f], but with the flare of [name_m]Anders[/name_m]: [name_f]Ansley[/name_f], Esha & [name_u]Malin[/name_u]
