Sibling for Noah

Never thought about sibling names when I named my first, and now, I’m stuck…should I stick with something hebrew (we are not), something biblical (will people think we just plucked bible characters for baby names)? We picked [name]Noah[/name] because it is simple and classic, but, for girls, we like cute and quirky. Anyways, please help. Thanks!

Boys:
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Fischer[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Simeon[/name]
[name]Finley[/name]

Girls:
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Gwyneth[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] (nn [name]Posey[/name])
[name]Penelope[/name] (nn [name]Penny[/name])

You have a good list going! I don’t think you have to stick with the biblical/hebrew route at all.

Of your girl list, my favorite is [name]Isla[/name]. I like the similar sounds of [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Noah[/name]. Other girl options that end in a similar sound that work are:

[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]/[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]

Of your boys I like [name]Finley[/name] the best. Would you call him [name]Finn[/name]? Are you interested in calling him by a nickname or prefer the full name? Similar names for boys are:

[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Riley[/name]
[name]Benson[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps a little!

[name]Noah[/name] is such a handsome and classic…love it!

I love [name]Asher[/name], [name]Hudson[/name] & [name]Finley[/name] from your boys list.
I love All your girls names…my absolute favorites from your list are
[name]Alice[/name],[name]Gwyneth[/name],[name]Harper[/name],[name]Isla[/name] &[name]Josephine[/name] (nn [name]Posey[/name]). All these names pair nicely with [name]Noah[/name]…good luck!

[name]Hi[/name] - I like your list! My favorites to go with [name]Noah[/name]:
Boys:
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Simeon[/name]
[name]Finley[/name]

Girls:
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]

Thanks for the help! I do like nn [name]Finn[/name] for [name]Finley[/name]…really picked [name]Finley[/name] b/c 2 syb go better with our ln. And I’m adding [name]Archer[/name] nn [name]Archie[/name] to the list…love it.

I like [name]Noah[/name] & [name]Claire[/name] for if it is a girl.

I’m not sure if this is too plain for you, but i think [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] sound great as brothers. [name]Noah[/name] & [name]Ben[/name] or [name]Noah[/name] & [name]Benji[/name] sounds great too!
… anyways… just an idea.

I think [name]Noah[/name] works with a lot of different names. It is biblical but it it also sounds very modern to me. I think all of the names you listed would work. It is more important to pick a name you love then one that “matches.”

Boys:
[name]Asher[/name]- I really like this one. I think it sounds great with [name]Noah[/name]. There is also [name]Asa[/name].
[name]Fischer[/name]- I dont like it. It is too much of a last name, or a hobby.
[name]Gideon[/name]- [name]Ive[/name] never liked this one because of the “gidy” sound.
[name]Hudson[/name]- [name]Love[/name] [name]Hudson[/name], it is so handsome.
[name]Simeon[/name]- I prefer [name]Simon[/name]. [name]Simeon[/name] reminds me of cinnamon.
[name]Finley[/name]- I love [name]Finn[/name] but [name]Finley[/name] is being taken over by the girls. I would go with [name]Findley[/name] or [name]Fintan[/name] for a boy.

Girls:
[name]Alice[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Alice[/name].
[name]Claire[/name]- So sweet and simple. I think it goes perfectly with [name]Noah[/name].
[name]Clementine[/name]- I know this is popular here but it seems like a very heavy name for a little girl. There really are no good nns, and [name]Clem[/name] just sounds very unpleasent to me.
[name]Gwyneth[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it. I also like [name]Gwendolyn[/name].
[name]Harper[/name]- Cute, I could see with this with [name]Noah[/name].
[name]Isla[/name]- [name]Love[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] (nn [name]Posey[/name])- Cute
[name]Penelope[/name] (nn [name]Penny[/name])- love it

I love [name]Gideon[/name] off of your boy’s list. Also, how about [name]Hunter[/name]?

For girl’s, how about [name]Sutton[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name]?

You have a great list! I also really like [name]Noah[/name].

From your boys list, I love [name]Gideon[/name]. I actually know a sibset with a [name]Gideon[/name] and a [name]Noah[/name] and I’ve always thought that those are great names and they sound great together. I also love [name]Hudson[/name]. To me, [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Hudson[/name] make a bit of a water theme (which I actually like), because of [name]Noah[/name] with the Ark and the [name]Hudson[/name] [name]River[/name].

From your girls list I like [name]Alice[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Isla[/name] (again, a bit of a water theme), [name]Josephine[/name] (nn [name]Posey[/name]), and [name]Penelope[/name] (nn [name]Penny[/name]).

You have lots of excellent options!

I actually named my son [name]Elam[/name] (EE-[name]LUM[/name]) which I pulled from the bible, both of my brothers were names from the bible and my sisters and I weren’t. I don’t think you would have too go with all Hebrew/Biblical names. For me it’s so hard to pick a boy’s name. If I had a girl she’d been named right after I found out. So for boys I choose biblical.

My most favorite biblical name? [name]Nahum[/name], If a good friend hadn’t named her son that first, it would belong to my son. I absolutely adore it and it sounds great [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Nahum[/name]. After hers was named [name]Nahum[/name] I wanted [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name], then I heard [name]Elam[/name] and fell in love.

But here are some Hebrew name’s I personally love

Boys Biblical
Aidel
[name]Hiram[/name]
[name]Amos[/name]
[name]Abel[/name]
[name]Abram[/name]
[name]Avner[/name]
Raviv
Ronen
[name]Amos[/name]
[name]Bartholomew[/name]
Barth
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Dagan[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name] (My cousin has boys named [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Noah[/name]!)
Gabod
[name]Isiah[/name]

If you want to stick with N’s:
[name]Natan[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Nissim[/name]
[name]Noam[/name]

The only thing I would worry about when using biblical names is most names are really, out there, I guess you could say. They may be too unusual and too unique to use with [name]Noah[/name], but for me I would like the names to kind of match. [name]Noah[/name] is simple and classic, so I would probably look for another simple, yet classic biblical name.

For a girl if you don’t like any of the Hebrew names, which mostly you’ll find is [name]Rebecca[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] etc, then go for something completely different, I’m sure no one would notice  Personally if I ever chose to have more children, boy or girl, I may stick with the biblical theme.

from your list I like;
[name]Finley[/name]
[name]Simeon[/name]
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]

However I would choose a Biblical Name

Suggestions;

[name]Nathan[/name]/[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Jeremiah[/name]

[name]David[/name]

[name]Esther[/name]
[name]Rebekah[/name]/[name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Deborah[/name]
[name]Bethany[/name]
[name]Joanna[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
Hosanna

[name]Honor[/name]
[name]Love[/name]
[name]Faith[/name]
[name]Hope[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]

Acher ([name]AH[/name] ker) - love this…what is the story? I hate falling in love with a biblical name and then realizing it they were a horrible king or something!

[name]Elizabeth[/name] - really like [name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Eve[/name] - like this
[name]Phoebe[/name] - oh yeah…she is in one of paul’s letters
[name]Susannah[/name] - really like this

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hmmm…I think it’s a no on Acher…just found this on ‘behind the name.com’ Possibly a variation of the Hebrew word ??? ('akhar) meaning “trouble”. In the Old Testament Acha(n) was stoned to death because he stole forbidden items during the assault on [name]Jericho[/name].

I like [name]Asher[/name] but how about:
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Lowell[/name]
[name]Ezekiel[/name] (fave biblical name with nn [name]Zeke[/name])
[name]Joshua[/name], [name]Ben[/name], [name]Adam[/name] and [name]David[/name] are also tried and true biblical names
Girls:
[name]Alice[/name] is my favorite (maybe b/c I know a [name]Noah[/name] with a brother [name]Alex[/name]?!)
[name]Sara[/name]
Good luck!
