[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! [name_m]Brand[/name_m] new member, first post ever so please bear with me :).
We’re expecting our second child [name_f]April[/name_f] 2014 (yay!). We’re not finding out gender, and didn’t with our first either.
First child’s name is [name_f]Norah[/name_f] Everlee. Using “[name_u]Lee[/name_u]” for a girl’s middle name is a family tradition on my side, so that’s how we arrived at Everlee.
I usually like each name (first, middle, last) to have a different amount of syllables. Our last name is a short one-syllable name ending in an “m”. So we don’t love first names ending in an “n” or an “n” sound (-ynn, -en, etc.) because our last name gets mispronounced with that sound quite often :).
Our current thoughts are:
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
My favorites are [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (loving [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_u]Clare[/name_u] even more) and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u].
My favorites are [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] sound too similar, in my opinion. I do agree with the previous person who suggested [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_u]Clare[/name_u]. [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is cool, but is a little trendy right now (I hear people naming girls this - ew!) and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is such a beautiful classic, much like [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. Plus, I love the nickname [name_m]Eli[/name_m].
Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Nameberry. I love both of your girls names but with [name_f]Norah[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a bit too matchy so I vote for [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] have similar sounds so I don’t really like them as siblings. [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is a great name of depth and history so I think this name would be an excellent choice. So it’s [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u]!
Thank you all so much; this is already so helpful! I do absolutely love [name_f]Claire[/name_f], but since I prefer a multiple syllable first name with our short one syllable last name, I thought [name_f]Clara[/name_f]…? Other one syllable (girl) first names I love are [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but hubby dislikes them. I also love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but he’s not a fan of those either. He kind of likes [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], which I’m ok with but don’t love.
Any other suggestions entirely? We don’t want anything too common, nor too out there (pretty much what everyone’s probably trying to achieve ;)).
