Hi guys! Haven’t found out gender yet but I’m struggling to find a good sibset name for our DD Olympia “Oly” Aspen.
Current top contenders are Everly “Evie” Lake and Franklin Kennedy (my maiden name), our last name is Sellar so rules out names like Milo, Olive, etc (because it sounds like a job desc “Olive Seller”)
Current girl favourites + middle names are:
Everly Lake, Coco Violet, Navy Delilah, Violet Sunday.
Current boy favourites are:
Franklin, Atlas, Otis, Arthur, Everett, Miles (middle name likely Kennedy or John, or something to match Olympia’s “Aspen”)
Don’t really LOVE any of the boys names, Franklin is the only one we both like. When we heard Olympia we immediately loved it and knew it was the one, hoping for this same feeling for the next name.
Please help, we appreciate ALL your suggestions. We know there’s the perfect name out there for us, we just don’t think we’ve seen it yet.
Thank you
I think of the names on your list, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] goes best. Sibling names don’t have to match or anything but [name_u]Everly[/name_u] feels very different to me than [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] & [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] (which would be such a fun set!). And I think the repeated K sounds in [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] would be wonderful.
I would eliminate the names you don’t both like.
In keeping with the idea of an interesting/sort of grand formal name with a fun nickname, here are some suggestions… [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] “Oly” [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] &
So to me, [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is a posh name with [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] being a bit more nature/contemporary. So I’m thinking something like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Delphina[/name_f], or [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] for a first name. And then names like [name_u]Lark[/name_u] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as the middle. Also, I think [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] is wicked cute as a name too
As for [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] as a a boys name, I love it. I love a good tribute name and I love a good last name as a first name so it’s the best of both worlds. If you want you could incorporate something similar to a girls name - like [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] for example; it still has the nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u].
For other boy names, I think [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m], and [name_u]Julian[/name_u] could be cute.
So helpful and reassuring that you love Oly’s names and some our top contenders.
I hadn’t thought of [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] before! [name_u]August[/name_u] was one I liked, but due in [name_u]August[/name_u] so wasn’t sure if that was a bit weird haha.
I do like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], and I hadn’t considered [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]! [name_u]Coco[/name_u] is my husbands top pick atm, so I like that it’s a fuller more formal version!
Firstly [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] is gorgeous! Such a pretty name
I think [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is lovely. I really [name_u]Lake[/name_u] as a sister middle name too [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is also such a sweet name but I think she feels trendy next to [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. I just don’t think as a sibling set they work. Personally I think [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] or even [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] work better with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite ‘Eve’ choice for your sibling set would be [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] & [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] are so pretty.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the ‘e’ sound? If so maybe you would like [name_f]Esmeray[/name_f] or [name_f]Evadne[/name_f] both feel more in keeping with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. I especially love [name_f]Esmeray[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] the name loosely translates as dark moon on a lake which is just gorgeous very dark academia. I also like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] & [name_f]Esmeray[/name_f] together so pretty!
From your other options I really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] she’s so adorable such a gorgeous name. [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are pretty together. You may also like [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] which I think has majestic vibe of [name_f]Olympia[/name_f].
In a nutshell my favourite choice of yours is [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]! I’m putting forward the suggestions of [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Esmeray[/name_f], [name_f]Evadne[/name_f] & [name_f]Violetta[/name_f].
From your boys I think [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] sounds stylistically very different from [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] is a cool vintage name but just feels very different from [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. I think maybe if it was [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u] that would be more in keeping. I like the idea of using [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] but I think [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] would work better with a name like [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] from your shortlist. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] would be a cool. I also really like from your shortlist [name_u]Miles[/name_u], [name_m]Otis[/name_m] & [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]. I think with the more traditional choices I would choose a braver middle name something like [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] or [name_m]Otis[/name_m] [name_m]Knight[/name_m]. With [name_u]Miles[/name_u] I think [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] would definitely work just because [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] & [name_u]Miles[/name_u] stylistically feel cohesive.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]! For a boy I love [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and [name_u]Atlas[/name_u], and am partial to [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] and [name_u]Miles[/name_u] as well. Although [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is my favourite of the names on your boys’ list, I think [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] pairs brilliantly with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f].
I think [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] & [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] “Finn” are perfect with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
I considered [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] as the first name but I didn’t want to risk everyone just calling him [name_m]Ken[/name_m] or [name_m]Kenny[/name_m], especially in Australia! I was slightly concerned though being [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] that it’s 2 US presidents in a row
I love you both recommended [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] and I hadn’t thought of it!
It’s reassuring that you guys both like [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] also, we picked it when I was pregnant last time so I wasn’t sure if I still loved it!
Congratulations!! Olympia Aspen is a beautiful name that really carries a lot of history and packs a punch. I wonder if the names you are looking at now are too trendy compared to Olympia. The exception would be Atlas. I think Atlas Kennedy sounds fantastic with your daughters name. Here’s what I’m thinking….
Olympia and Lysandra
Olympia and Juno
Olympia and Anastasia
Olympia and Daphne
Olympia and Xanthe
Olympia and Ione
Olympia and Allegra
Olympia and Vienna
Olympia and Caspian
Olympia and Julian
Olympia and Sebastian
Olympia and Leopold
Olympia and Ambrose
Olympia and Rex
Olympia and Stellan
So we found out yesterday it’s a girl! I was certain it was going to be a boy and had settled on [name_u]Franklin[/name_u], so now need to pick a girls name!
[name_f]My[/name_f] top 2 favourites are [name_u]Everly[/name_u] “Evie” [name_u]Lake[/name_u], and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] “Kensi” or “Edie” [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (Kennedy being maiden name). Husband likes [name_u]Everly[/name_u] but wants to come around on [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u].
[name_m]Can[/name_m] anyone weigh in, offer alternative first names, or middle names that match [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] but go with [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]? [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] seems to be a tough first name to get a nice feminine nature middle name to flow with!
I think your top two, [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] & [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], are the very best from your list. I think they go very nicely with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. Go for it. And congratulations!
Sorry, just read your second post. I still like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] for you! Is [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] a family honor name? If not, I would hesitate to give it to your second daughter, just because of any feelings of jealousy or unfairness that can come up. But if you’d regret not doing it, go ahead and use [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u].
I’m not certain I like the idea of [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] as sisters. To me they seem a little mismatched. I would use [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] as a middle name.
How about….Olympi@ Asp3n and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]. Sisters [name_f]Oly[/name_f] and Edie….Or Olympi@ A$pen and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]. [name_f]Oly[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Kensi[/name_f] or Kendi
I know you think you have decided on your favorites, but here are some of my ideas with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] Aspen……
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. (Tori)
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u]. (Genie)
[name_f]Imogene[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. (Immy, Genie)
[name_f]Arianna[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. (Ari)
[name_f]Rowenna[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. (Winnie)
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (Ellie, Lola)
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]. (Lula)
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] (Evie)
I agree I’m struggling with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] as a sibset, but I think having both nature middle names “Violet” and “Aspen”, also short nicknames “Edie” and “Oly” helps to match them a little more.
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] is still one of my favourites but I’m just worried it will date and be the next [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] or something. Neither are popular in Australia, but both are very popular in US
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. It flows so nicely with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f].
I like [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]. It has different vibes and atyle to [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], but if you both love it I say go for it. Nicknames [name_f]Oly[/name_f] and [name_u]Edi[/name_u] are so cute.
@steviesellar how about Evania ? It’s Greek like Olympia so you could have a Oly and Evie? Olympia and Evania sound like a gorgeous sibset.
There is also
Evanna
Evaine
Evette
Evaluna
Evangeline
Eva
Edna
Elva
Edith
Aurora and nickname Rory sounds sweet too.
I agree with others that Kennedy seems a bit mismatched in terms of style.
Funny you should say! [name_u]Raven[/name_u] was my Kennedy-side nana’s maiden name! One of my cousins is called [name_u]Raven[/name_u] for this reason haha
I have recently heard and quite like [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] (pn “Av-eh-line” not the french av-eh-leen) but dislike the nn [name_f]Ava[/name_f]! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be a bit of a stretch for a nn?
I had [name_f]Avaline[/name_f] [name_u]Navy[/name_u] as an option but sometimes we say [name_f]Oly[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] [name_u]Navy[/name_u] doesn’t quite roll the same way haha. I also tried [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] as a mn before realising I made the initials A.S.S!
Other options for middle name
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_u]Navy[/name_u]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_u]Coco[/name_u]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] is still the only name we both truly agree on. Hubby is set on [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and loves [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] but I’m not a fan of any of them / [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is basically the same name. She would probably be [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] if the song didn’t exist
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is a great song ! It’s not super relevant anymore and I doubt it will be as she gets older if it makes you feel better
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is beautiful! You can nickname anything- the only thing with [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is that people might try to spell it [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] - just something to think about. [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] or [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] stand up to [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] nicely.
Would you consider [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] as a first ? [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] ?
