Sibling for Pandora

I’m always very awkward at things such as this, so shall attempt to keep it short.

My partner and I have a five year old daughter, [name]Pandora[/name] [name]Bryony[/name]. Currently little more than two months pregnant; do not know the gender of our baby-to-be. Despite the fact that we’d like to before birth, I’m something of a compulsive over-planner and would like to already lay out some options for both genders.

I have compiled a list of my favourite names (regardless of whether or not they are usable), and would appreciate anything from suggestions based on those tastes to comments about how/how I could not use the names I listed, etc. It seems to be a taste that’s pretty poignant for most berries, so I doubt you’ll be lacking in suggestions:

G:

[name]Audra[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Gwendolen[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Molly[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Eulalie[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]/[name]Adela[/name]?
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name]

B:

[name]Nigel[/name]
[name]Winslow[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]/[name]Quentin[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Hamish[/name]

[name]Pandora[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] is an amazing name! I think you’ll need a name that can compare to [name]Pandora[/name], so something not too common or simple.

[name]Audra[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t really like it, and seems kind of plain with [name]Pandora[/name].
[name]Hazel[/name] - I love this one and it goes well with [name]Pandora[/name].
[name]Gwendolen[/name] - I also love this but I don’t know if it has the same style as [name]Pandora[/name] does.
[name]Lucy[/name] - Very nice but too short and common. What about [name]Lucille[/name]?
[name]Molly[/name] - Cute, but agin too plain against [name]Pandora[/name].
[name]Emmeline[/name] - I like this a lot and it seems to work.
[name]Eulalie[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it and it goes perfectly with [name]Pandora[/name].
[name]Adele[/name] - It’s alright, and it works.
[name]Elodie[/name] - I don’t like this at all.
[name]Romilly[/name] - Really nice and great with [name]Pandora[/name].

[name]Nigel[/name] - I don’t think it works that well with [name]Pandora[/name].
[name]Winslow[/name] - Its interesting and uncommon but does work.
[name]Hugo[/name] - I love this and even though it’s short I think you could put it with [name]Pandora[/name] because its such a strong name.
[name]Quinn[/name]/[name]Quentin[/name] - [name]Quinn[/name] is getting really popular and [name]Quentin[/name] just doesn’t seem to work.
[name]Felix[/name] - It’s not my style although it fits with [name]Pandora[/name].
[name]Hamish[/name] - I don’t like it at all. [name]Just[/name] seems silly and reminds me of ham which I don’t like. Also you’ve got the word amish in there.

My favourites from your lists are [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name].

[name]Hope[/name] this helps

[name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name], or [name]Romilly[/name] would make a fabulous sister for [name]Pandora[/name]! As for the boys, [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] fit the best. These might be too far out there, but I think Hyperion, Astrophel, or [name]Lysander[/name] would be divine.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Pandora[/name]! From your list, I like [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] the most. From the PP list, I like [name]Thisbe[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], and [name]Persephone[/name] for girls, and [name]Oberon[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], and [name]Phineas[/name] for boys.

Some others based on the list of your favorites:
Girls: Phedre, [name]Calista[/name], [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Titania[/name], and [name]Tamsin[/name]
Boys: [name]Lysander[/name], [name]Perseus[/name], [name]Tarquin[/name], [name]Giles[/name], and Finnick

[name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Romilly[/name] for girls and [name]Winslow[/name] for boys. [name]Love[/name] the suggestion of [name]Thisbe[/name] as well.

Suggestions:
[name]Aviva[/name]
Cerentha
[name]Diantha[/name]
[name]Olivine[/name]
[name]Sabine[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name]

[name]Balthazar[/name] nn [name]Baz[/name]
[name]Leander[/name]

I think Pandora is such a strong name that anything veering on the side of plain, trendy, average, etc. will feel very out of place. So I agree with the first poster that names such as Molly or Lucy don´t really work. I usually don´t care about sibsets going together, but Pandora is so unique that Pandora and Lucy would be a glaring contrast. I also feel like if you pair it with something like Gwendolyn (historical references, specific mental image/character association, long, not used very often) it would feel, at least to me, a little over-the-top. I would think the two of you were gamers… and if that is the case… then let that flag fly  by all means.

Me personally, I would try to find something unique and interesting enough that doesn´t bring a specific image to mind (like Pandora and Gwendolyn do)… historical ties that are less known or that haven´t been featured regularly in movies. So I would avoid well-known mythological names, gods and godesses and epic Shakespeare characters. I don´t know if that makes sense, but it is the best way I can describe what I think. Suggestions I like:

Girls:
Tamsin
Thisbe
Romilly
Juniper
Magnolia
Sabine
Olivine
Calista
Phaedra (push Audra up a notch?)
Hollis
Althea (too greeky of a theme?)
Leda
Portia
Cassandra
Seraphina (maybe?)
Tabitha

Boys:
Leander
Finnick
Balthazar (BAZ)
Phineas
Oberon/Auberon
Lucian
Ezekial
Linus (I don´t know why?)
August(us) (over the top?)
Orson
Tobias

I don´t feel like Winslow or Hugo really fit exactly, but I do think they are really cute… and if you don´t mind the contrast then that is what is important

I like [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Nigel[/name] best. Not too fond of any of the others, although [name]Emmeline[/name] is nice. [name]Just[/name] a lot of Emmas out there. There is a name in my maternal line that I never hear or see, one that could keep up with [name]Pandora[/name]: [name]Permelia[/name].

[name]Permelia[/name]! There is a [name]Pamelia[/name] in my family tree : D.

Your list is lovely, but most of your names are too tame for [name]Pandora[/name]. From your list I like [name]Gwendolyn[/name] and [name]Romilly[/name] or [name]Winslow[/name] or [name]Felix[/name]. [name]How[/name] about:

[name]Agatha[/name]
Antigony
[name]Olympia[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name]
[name]Persephone[/name]
[name]Callista[/name]
[name]Nerissa[/name]
[name]Ursula[/name]
[name]Lavinia[/name]

I love that you named your daughter [name]Pandora[/name]. It’s such an awesome, usually forgotten name.
From your lists, I like [name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name].

Some other suggestions maybe: [name]Azalea[/name], [name]Acacia[/name], [name]Odessa[/name]

Oh I love your lists - some fantastic names…
My favs are…
[name]Emmeline[/name],[name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Adela[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name], [name]Felix[/name]

I too think you should steer clear of the ‘top list’ kinda names, just because [name]Pandora[/name] is so fabulously unique…
good luck picking!

[name]HI[/name], I have twin granddaughters, now 2 1/2. Their names are [name]Pandora[/name] and [name]Olympia[/name], but they are always called Panda and [name]Pia[/name]. The two nicknames work very well together. Otherwise, I think [name]Aurora[/name] would complement [name]Pandora[/name]. I can’t think of a good boy name. By the way, [name]Nigel[/name] is a very lower middle class name in [name]England[/name]. I wouldn’t use it, even if it’s Grandpa’s name. Best wishes, [name]Melody[/name]

[name]Audra[/name] - I knew an Audris which I like a little more
[name]Hazel[/name] - very cute
[name]Gwendolen[/name]- nice but a little stuffy to me, I like Gwenoline
[name]Lucy[/name] - cute, classy, will age well
[name]Molly[/name] - not a fan, cant imagine it on a grown up and I know one who goes by “[name]Em[/name]” because of it.
[name]Emmeline[/name] - I have a friend named this who goes by [name]Emmy[/name], very nice
[name]Eulalie[/name] - sorry really cant stand this name in French or English, it’s too cutesy and trendy over there and Im not sure how to pronounce it here.
[name]Adele[/name]/[name]Adela[/name]? - Beautiful! My sisters mn!
[name]Elodie[/name] - dont like the idea of mispronunciations “el oh dee” it’s only attractive in French to me
[name]Romilly[/name] - cute!

B:

[name]Winslow[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name] - love
[name]Quinn[/name]/[name]Quentin[/name] - love
