Sibling for Rosa?

What would you name a brother and sister to [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]? Multiple sisters or brothers? Since [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is the international/Spanish variation of classic [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and a name with a long history, which of these aspects would you use in deciding a sibling name? In other words; would you pick another international name, (baby would be half Hispanic) another “old lady” name, or something that seems to stand the test of time (although [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is such an overly-used middle name, it STILL doesn’t go out of style, at least in my opinion!). Here are some sister names I have thought about. My taste is all over the place!

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Shirley[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (too popular?)
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]

All opinions & suggestions welcome! Thanks

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] are my favorite from your list

Being that Rosa is both old lady & caters to the hispanic heritage, you could potentially do the same with future siblings

This is what I could come up with

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & _________:

[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] “[name_f]Mila[/name_f]”
[name_f]Beatriz[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] “[name_f]Nora[/name_f]” “[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]”

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]? Less popular and more a nod to bub’s Hispanic heritage. I like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] from your list too.

For a boy, some suggestions:

[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Fredrico[/name_m]

@wilkie8709 thanks for all the ideas!
I like [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] (I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f]) and reminds me of [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f] which I also love, but I feel slightly less thrilled about another name ending in -a, it isn’t really a big deal, but it does bother me just a little bit. With that being said, I like [name_f]Ilsa[/name_f], [name_f]Lumina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] and [name_f]Serafina[/name_f], these are gorgeous names!
[name_m]Santiago[/name_m] and [name_m]Thiago[/name_m] are already major contenders; he would be a 3rd  I have always loved [name_m]Joaquin[/name_m], [name_m]Francisco[/name_m] and [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], and am intrigued by the suggestion of simply [name_m]Teo[/name_m]. I think that would be a short, cute complement to [name_f]Rosa[/name_f].

@bonhomieconsomie [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] would be one of those perfect contenders if it didn’t also end in -A like [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. I won’t leave it off my list though.
I have always deeply loved [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] but DH says no. :frowning: I wonder if he would go for [name_m]Victor[/name_m] instead…

[name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]! Either of these would be perfect
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] not far behind

I am absolutely tickled to see [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] here. I would never have thought to suggest it, but I think it’s a lovely unexpected choice! And ready for a revival.

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] sound perfect and I really want you to have this excellent little daughter duo

If not [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] I think [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] are great. Or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Opal[/name_f].

I’m a little biased but I think that [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f] works great! [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] also work if you don’t mind going a little more popular.
For boys I like [name_u]Nico[/name_u]

I like the international names with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. But a lot of those names are going to end in a.

[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]

[name_m]Stephan[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Anton[/name_m]
[name_m]Emil[/name_m]
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]

I would go with another international Latin name. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is beautiful and sounds fresh in my opinion.

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Luisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Julia[/name_f]

For Boys:
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_m]Marcos[/name_m]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] or “[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]”
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_m]Carlos[/name_m]

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I think with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] you could do a Hispanic-y sounding sibling or a vintage sounding sibling.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Shirley[/name_f]-This is certainly a name that you don’t see very often anymore. I’m not sure I love it, but it’s certainly different & does work well w/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]-[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is adorable, but kind of better as a nn in my opinion. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]? [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] seems to be the best fit w/[name_f]Rosa[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (too popular?)-[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is pretty popular, but a sweet name. I also really like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Luciana[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Frances[/name_f]-Hm. I really like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] for a girl, but for some reason I’d assume this were a sister/brother combo. I like [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_u]Francis[/name_u] for siblings. Maybe [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]?

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f]-Ooh, those are both pretty. Or you could do [name_f]Junia[/name_f] nn [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]-This is sweet. Vintage & kind sounding. Not as bold & exotic as [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], but I don’t think that it doesn’t fit.

Girl suggestions-

[name_f]Anita[/name_f]

[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]

[name_f]Lola[/name_f]

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]

[name_f]Thea[/name_f]…or maybe [name_f]Althea[/name_f]/[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f]?

Boy suggestions-

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]

[name_m]Albert[/name_m]

[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]

[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]

[name_m]Diego[/name_m]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_u]Gael[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] & [name_m]Saul[/name_m]

@sunday_cami I agree about [name_f]Shirley[/name_f]! I think it is soft & sweet, and definitely ready to come back. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Adaline[/name_f].

@magnoliae I’ve never really considered [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] but as I say it, I like the way it sounds with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], and also the nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f] (and [name_f]Belle[/name_f]!)

@sarah1800 Yes, it has been a challenge finding Hispanic girl names that work with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and don’t end in -a! I love suggestions [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_u]Simone[/name_u]!

@prairiekeeper [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Luisa[/name_f], although I prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] spelling. I also really like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and other Ju- names with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], but I wonder if it sounds too [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]?

Thank you all for your input!

@michellem Thanks for your thoughts on my ideas. I adore [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]. The latter two have already been vetoed but I should ask about the others

@a282 I have always thought [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] would sound great with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. I also really like [name_m]Teo[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].

@elenajeanine think [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is super cute but can’t help thinking it’s too “sweet” with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. I love the suggestion of [name_u]Ari[/name_u] for a boy.
