Sibling for Ruby and Henry

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], We have a dd named [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and a ds named [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. We are looking at names for our third baby. We have a couple of names, but not convinced.

Girls

[name_f]Evie[/name_f] - Really like this but too informal to go with the other names?
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Not same style as other names?
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - ?

Boys

[name_m]Hamish[/name_m] - Not sure of the 2 x H names
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] - This is a favourite of ours, however too different in style??
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] ?

What do you think of these names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think they go with our other childrens names? I quite like short 2 syllable names, that are girly and elegant/strong and masculine. Middle name for boy would be [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], and no middle name for girls name as yet. Open to suggestions/help on this.

I like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] if it’s a boy. I think it fits really well style-wise and it’s such a great name!
I don’t particularly love any of your girl options, but if you were to choose one of them I would vote [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
Some suggestions for girls:
*[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]/ [name_u]Ivory[/name_u] (If you like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f], what about [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_u]Ivory[/name_u]?)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
**[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
**[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
*[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]

I happen to like the idea of another -y name, but maybe you wish to avoid that? I starred (*) my favourites with the same ending as [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and doubled starred (**) my favourites if you want to avoid that ending.

Good luck!

I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] are all perfect fits with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Evie[/name_f] works perfectly, too.

My favorites would be [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] seem really smashing together (I know of a boy named [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]), and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] are both beautiful, feminine, familiar, but not-too-common word names with strong histories and a smidgen of quirk.

[name_m]Louis[/name_m] is just fine, but I’m not sure what to think of [name_m]Hamish[/name_m].

In addition to these great suggestions, how about:

Names with the -y ending:

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]

[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Rigby[/name_m]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]

Same feel (vintage/classic)

[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Marta[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]

I kind of like a name with a different ending, if you say them together: “[name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_m]George[/name_m]” or “[name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]” vs. “[name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]” or “[name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_u]Finley[/name_u].”

Oh, and I forgot [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] under the list of girls’ names with the -y ending, above!

Girls

[name_f]Evie[/name_f] - Really like this but too informal to go with the other names? - I really like it too. I don’t think it is too informal, but I think a name not ending in “ee” would balance things out, What about [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]?
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Not same style as other names? - I agree. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]?
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - ? Yes!

Suggestions:
[name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]India[/name_f]

Boys

[name_m]Hamish[/name_m] - Not sure of the 2 x H names - Matches well, but I have never cared for [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] and the terrible nn Hammy
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] - This is a favourite of ours, however too different in style?? - I love it!
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] ? - If it is like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] not [name_m]Louie[/name_m], then this is great!

Suggestions:
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]

From your list I like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]), [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. I agree that you don’t have to use an -E ending, but you certainly can reach that by a nickname if you want to keep that ending.

Some other possibilities:

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and

[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] ([name_u]Alfie[/name_u], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u])
[name_m]Bruce[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u])
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_m]Jimmy[/name_m])
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] ([name_u]Joey[/name_u])
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_u]Stanley[/name_u]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]/[name_u]Toby[/name_u]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]

[name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f])
[name_f]Betsy[/name_f] (or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] as a nn)
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] ([name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Dorry[/name_f])
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f])
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f])
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] ([name_f]Franny[/name_f])
[name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Janie[/name_f])
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/[name_f]Julia[/name_f]/[name_u]Julie[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]/[name_f]Molly[/name_f]/[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]/[name_f]Sally[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] ([name_f]Ginny[/name_f])
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and Isaac go great with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].

I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] goes great! It has two syllables and is classic, masculine and simple. It also fits well with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I was going to suggest [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but then I remembered the middle name haha.

Personally, I think the girls names you have chosen are not as vintage sounding as [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be so adorable!

Girls:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Boys:

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Onyx[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m]

I adore the suggestions of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. [name_u]Percy[/name_u] could work too. I do like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] from your original list.

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are precious! I like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as your girls choice. I am honestly not crazy about the boy choices.x

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and comments.

I do like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] however, our surname is one syllable and seems a bit short. Not keen on [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and know a little girl already called [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

What do you think of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think this could work?

I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and I think it has the same vintage charm as [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].

Yes, I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would go very well.

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]

If you are attached to “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]”, I suggest [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] sound well together.

Also:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f]

<3

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] are a great sibset!

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]

From your choices I think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] ([name_m]Louie[/name_m]) with your sibset would be perfect!!! (with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]…)

I would also like

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_u]Arie[/name_u]
[name_f]Emme[/name_f]
[name_u]Nori[/name_u]
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Francie[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoey[/name_f]

[name_m]Coby[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_m]Kory[/name_m]
[name_m]Morie[/name_m]
[name_u]Cody[/name_u]
[name_m]Percie[/name_m]
[name_m]Benji[/name_m]
[name_m]Yancey[/name_m]
[name_u]Stanley[/name_u]
[name_u]Quincey[/name_u]

I’d definately go with an (ie, i, ey or Y) ending. The new little sib might ask you why he/she doesn’t have that cute little ending someday and feel left out.
