I need some help, I mostly lurk here, but now I’m in need of some actual interaction. I have one son named [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] [name_m]Zane[/name_m], nn [name_m]Sid[/name_m]. We will hopefully be finding out the sex of our second child next week. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have agreed on a few names, but not many and nothing I’m really in love with for a boy.
So I would like to hear what you all think. Our last name is two syllables and starts with a B.
For a girl we would like to use the middle name [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], for my mother who passed away earlier this year. The names we’ve agreed on don’t all go with [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] as we’ve been talking about this since before we decided to use my mother’s name, but I’ll share them anyway. They are -
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] (my husband had some qualms about [name_f]Molly[/name_f], but since we don’t live in [name_u]Utah[/name_u] anymore I think he’s gotten past it, I love it)
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]April[/name_f]
We are having a much harder time with a boys name, we agree on only a few names and haven’t found any combinations we agree on. The few boy names we can agree on are -
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] nn [name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m] (I’m iffy on this one, my husband loves it)
A family name on my husband’s side is [name_m]Newton[/name_m] nn [name_m]Newt[/name_m], it was his grandfather’s name and he would love to use it, but I’m not convinced.
So, Berries, do you have any suggestions or opinions for me?
I think [name_m]Newton[/name_m] is a nice name. It can be a middle if you don’t like the nn [name_m]Newt[/name_m]!
Names potentially to go with [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], just going off sound and a Biblical/traditional theme with the other boy names you mentioned: [name_m]Amos[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Palmer[/name_m], [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m].
Not sure whether any of them suit your style, but good luck regardless!
From your list, I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] with [name_u]Sidney[/name_u].
First off, I want to say I’m thrilled to see [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] on a boy! It’s a family name I’ve thought of using for a middle before. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] would be perfect with [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], but I agree that it doesn’t go well with [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]. [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is the first name that popped in my mind for a brother to [name_u]Sidney[/name_u]. I also like [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] from your list. I personally would find [name_m]Newton[/name_m] a bit of a letdown after [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], but if it’s important to honor his grandfather I would put it in the middle.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_u]Marian[/name_u]/[name_f]Marianne[/name_f] (Since [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a nickname for [name_f]Mary[/name_f], maybe it could work for these)
[name_f]Kate[/name_f](Maybe to honor [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] in the first name spot?)
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Adah[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Susana[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
I ran through your suggestions with my husband and we added a few more names to our boy list, he particularly likes [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] as he likes how they sound with [name_m]Newton[/name_m] as a middle. We talked about it and I think I have him convinced that, while Grandpa [name_m]Newt[/name_m] is great, his name would probably be best in the middle spot.
I really like the name [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but we already have a niece with that name.
Thank you for your replies. We should find out the sex of the baby on Thursday.
