I’d like to apologize in advance for the long post.
We’re expecting a second little one in [name_u]June[/name_u], a younger brother or sister to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] who we call [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. I’d really love a similar old, vintage style name. My husband isn’t as set on this rule.
For a girl my husband has shockingly liked everything I’ve suggested. I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Clara[/name_f], so was planning on [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is after my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] (I feel like this LO needs a middle name from my husband’s side of the family). However, my middle name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], as is my mom’s and great grandmother’s. Growing up I always thought I’d use it as the middle name for a little girl, but now I don’t feel like I can. However, I recently had the idea of using [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] for the first name and calling her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] for short. Thoughts? Are [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] too similar sounding? Not sure what we’d then use for a middle name. Our options so far are [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f].
Boys name have been a much bigger struggle. My husband has vetoed almost every name I’ve suggested. We definitely want to use my FIL’s name, [name_m]Albert[/name_m], for a middle name. The three names we haven’t completely ruled out are:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] - My favorite. I do worry about popularity, but then again [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is becoming much more popular, too. While my husband didn’t veto the name he also doesn’t seem to love it. He keeps mentioning that we’d be stuck with nickname [name_m]Hank[/name_m], but I don’t think a nickname is necessary.
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] (?nn [name_u]Finn[/name_u]) - My husband really likes this one. Honestly, my issue with it is the nn [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. While I do like the name, when we were pregnant with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] we had an aunt who went on a lengthy rant about how terrible the name is and it’s kind of ruined it for me.
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Sully[/name_u]) - I don’t know that this fits as a classic name. My husband really like the alliteration with our last name (which starts with S).
Names that we’ve ruled out because we have someone close to us with the name/names my husband has vetoed: [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], any variation with [name_u]Max[/name_u] or [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m].
Any insight or new name suggestions that we haven’t ruled out would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
