Hello!
I am due in [name_f]September[/name_f] with baby #3. We find out gender in a month, but I like to plan ahead . We have a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Tolkien[/name_m] (Teddy) and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] (Lucy). Last name is one syllable beginning and ending in S.
[name_f]My[/name_f] DH is set on a boy name we came up with together, [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m]. But Iām having doubts on if [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is ānormalā enough for me. We cannot agree on a girl name. Iām leaning towards [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but DH is unsure.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I usually like longer names with nickname potential, but Iām open to ideas.
Thanks!
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is normal enough for you (haha I mean, it is pretty normal).
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] does feel surprising after [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].

First off I love [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]! I also have [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] both up high on my own baby name list and think it sounds great with your sib set! If you are curious on other names you might like

As for girl names I think both [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] work great with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] more, especially because there are more options for nicknames unlike [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] to Addie/Addy such as Fliss / Flissy / [name_f]Flossy[/name_f] / [name_f]Fe[/name_f] / Fefe / Lissy/Lissie / [name_f]Cissy[/name_f] and so on

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] are so lovely! [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m] is very cool & I donāt think itās too out there. It feels literary & just the right amount of charmingly quirky as [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] do. I like the nn Caspi too.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is nice enough for a girl, but there are so many Adelyn/Addies running around, that Iām really over āAdā names. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I love [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], Iād advise against it (or Adelaide) unless you really loved it the most. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is lovely. It gives me the same bright posh vibe as [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], but way less common.
Sorry for any repeats, but how aboutā¦

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
Itās a little more bold than Theodore and Lucille (love her name so much by the way) but Caspian somehow still fits really nicely!
Also, your girl choices are lovely, but Felicity in particular is absolute stunning perfection with sibling names.

Iāll come back with suggestions tomorrow, but I just wanted to say that your children have gorgeous names. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m] is one of the most beautiful names that Iāve ever seen. Iād use it in a heartbeat! And although [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is less popular than [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], I think that itās still completely usable. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] may not be as well-used, but itās very familiar due to the ocean and the [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] character.
Gosh I love your childrenās names - both elegant and enchanting - and of course tied to Tolkien/CS Lewis (Lucy) and fantasy generally.
I really like the name Caspian - and donāt think itās too out there - but obv a more direct nod to CS Lewis. Iām not entirely sure about Courage as a middle with the last name being short and S heavy - is it hard to say? Iām stumbling on it but it might be the last name Iāve made up in my head.
Also re Caspian, does Cas/Caspy/Cassy appeal and go with last name or again a bit S heavy? My cousin has a very similar name and gets Crispy/Crispy CrĆØme etc from his brother. I would personally go for Kip as the nn - but you may not be able to always enforce and it is quite different to Caspian. Anyway, I think if it gets through the tongue twister test and you have a nickname you like, then keep on list - itās such a inspirational name and should be the āone to beatā (or front runner)!
Some other possibilities (mix and match):
Christopher Kindred nn āKipā/āKitā or even nn āKirkeā (a Lewis ref)
Elwin Courage āWinā
Hamilton Bravery (Hamilton being Lewisās broās middle and pen name, Hamilton could also be a fab middle)
Jack Bravery (Jack being Lewisās nn)
But I also like the idea of using a Lewis/fantasy name in second spot. Eg:
Willoughby Lewis/Jack
Sebastian Courage
Jasper Ransom
Philip Caspian āPipā
Rafferty Tumnus
Girls (with fantasy / enchanting middles)
Susannah (nod to Susan) Wildrose
Mary Penrose āPollyā (Polly being also from CS Lewis)
Marianne Sparrow
Felicity Anwen / Winter
Adelaide Corin (CS Lewis ref)
Imogen Polly āImmyā
Helen Aravis (both of these CS Lewis names and I love āNellā and āLeni).
Philippa Jewel (Jewel also CS ref) āPippaā, āPJā
Meanwhile, I personally prefer Adelaide to Felicity - Adelaide is almost a smoosh of Theodore and Lucille and has better nickname options imo (Addie, Adele, Daisy, Laidy etc). Both would work with the others so again, would be down to nicknames for me.
Hope this helps!
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is cool, but does throw me a little. Nickname would be [name_m]Cas[/name_m]? LOVE [name_m]Courage[/name_m] as a middle name.
Maybe something a little more tailoredā¦
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] āDashā
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] āArchieā
[name_m]Emerson[/name_m] āSonnyā
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] āMac or Kaiā
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] āMacā
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] āVanā
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] āNico/Nickyā
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_m]Callan[/name_m] āCalā
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m] āCashā
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] āCass/Ianā
[name_m]Caius[/name_m] āCaiā
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are lovely with your other childrenās names.
Here are some more elegant girl names you/he might like:
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Marlowe[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Arden[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
Yes, the theme of Tolkien/Lewis was somewhat unintentional lol. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband LOVES LOTR and picked [name_m]Tolkien[/name_m] and we picked [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], realizing afterwards that it could be a theme. Especially since [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is what we picked as our boy option then. The only problem is I donāt know that I want all of our childrenās names to have a theme, especially if we find a name we really like that doesnāt fit. Is it too clichĆ©? [name_m]Just[/name_m] thoughts rambling about in my brain.
P.S. From your post and profile pic, I think we could be friends.
I donāt think itās overdone - Lucille/ [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a very gentle honour that most wouldnāt notice as itās really only via her nickname, and the very cool [name_m]Tolkien[/name_m] in second spot is as public as you want it to be. I like this sweet thread through the names and if not decidedly Tolkien/Lewis then having something a little whimsical and nostalgic in that middle spot would be really lovely. I wouldnāt second guess that. (Here to talk [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f] anytime - and lowbrow, pop stuff too.)
I donāt think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is too out there - soundwise itās similar to [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], which is very common.
I do wonder if itās the middle name thatās throwing you off? [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m] is a very bold combination. Maybe using a more understated middle would help you feel better about using [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] as the first name. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]James[/name_m] ā¦ just a name that no one will blink at?
For a girl, I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. You canāt go wrong with either. The only thing that might give me pause is if you have a nickname planned for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], because [name_f]Lissy[/name_f] is an obvious one - but itās very close to [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
You could consider [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]? It gives you the nickname option of [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], which is a bit more distinctive that [name_f]Addie[/name_f], which I think may be inevitable for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
Hereās some suggestions for you: [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Paulina[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
Huge congratulations!
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is lovely and definitely becoming more mainstream. I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] isnāt surprising with The0dore + Lucill3 as big siblings. Yes The0dore is more common but honestly he does work. I love the sound of [name_m]Courage[/name_m] in the middle slot paired with [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] such an overall lovely name.

Looking at your girl I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is a lovely fit. She has that unexpected feel which matches Lucill3 whilst also feeling in keeping with The0dore. I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is also gorgeous but I just love the glamour of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is a little different in style - but still fits the longer name with great nickname , recognizable criteria.
I think if your looking for other C names , [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] might be more styled to your older kids

If it helps, Iāve met two Caspians (and a few Caspers), and it sounds familiar enough that it doesnāt seem out there?
I guess some alternatives could be [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m], [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m]?
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are both lovely - beautiful and solid choices!

[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] (Lottie, Tillie)
I really like all your options! [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is less common than [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] for sure. but I donāt think itās TOO uncommon or stands out with the other two names. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m] is a really cool name! I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] both fit very nicely as well. I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] more with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] but I think they both work!

I love so many of these names. [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] [name_m]Courage[/name_m] is my husbandās brother who passed away when he was young that we are honoring with [name_m]Courage[/name_m] as a middle.
Iām so sorry for your familyās loss I love the idea of [name_m]Courage[/name_m] to honour him. [name_f]Happy[/name_f] that you like my other ideas too!
