I am looking for boy and girl name suggestions for our baby. We don’t plan to find out what we are having.
Our last name is three-syllables, starts with “N”
Our children’s names are:
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f] (An Exotic name. Hubby picked, wouldn’t want one that long again)
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] (An old-fashioned/Bible name. I picked)
[name_m]Trey[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m] (An old, but modern-sounding name, alHubby picked, not my style, makes a lot of old-fashioned names seem boring)
The names seem hard to match because they are all a different style.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want:
Names ending in “N” (hard to say with last name)
Three syllable names (last name long)
Names starting with “M”, “J” sound, or “K” sound (too many already in extended family)
Names containing syllable similar to “[name_f]Leah[/name_f]” ([name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f])
Names that sound like “[name_f]Claire[/name_f]” – [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]
Neither my husband not I really like word-names, or made up names.
Hubby says it’s my turn to pick the name and I keep culling my list for one reason or other. Our children are old enough this time to offer their opinion, and that’s not helping.
I like old fashioned names, but probably older that those from one hundred years ago. I can still connect most of those names with people I know/knew.
Girl names that come to mind:
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] (already used in the family)
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] (my oldest hates it)
[name_u]Patsy[/name_u] (hubby isn’t so fond of it)
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] (already used)
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (my oldest hates it, too)
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] (the oldest like it, yay!)
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] (I sort of like it because my grandma had a sister [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and i know it’s coming up in the charts, but I’m not sure it’s a good sibling name)
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] ( I kind of like the sound of this name, but not sure I’d really want to use it. [name_m]Don[/name_m]‘t think hubby would like it)
Aniela (Ahn’-y”-la. I knew a Polish lady with this name, but no one would have a clue in our area how to say or spell it. I’d probably have to use a more phonetic spelling, like Anyela, but then it looks like a lot like it’s English form, [name_f]Angela[/name_f], which I don’t like)
Boy names:
[name_u]Percy[/name_u] (My 6 yo wants it, to match his new cousin [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] (as in - [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] the train & his pal [name_u]Percy[/name_u]) I don’t think it’s really on the radar.
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (already used)
[name_m]Tobiah[/name_m]/[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] (the children all gagged)
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] (the middle one choked)
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] (Not my favorite. But the drama queens didn’t keel over, at least)
[name_u]Wylie[/name_u], [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_m]Zane[/name_m], (I like the sound of these names, but they feel a bit too cowboy/bad-boy for our gentle farming life)
[name_m]Kelby[/name_m] (This is a more modern name that caught my eye. But it sounds like the kind that will go to the girls before long.)
