[name_f]My[/name_f] partner is into literature names (Catherine from withering hights) and Greek names such as [name_m]Ilias[/name_m] and [name_m]Elias[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
Whereas im more into family names (Catherine is a family name for me) such as [name_m]Michael[/name_m] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] and names that end in N such as [name_m]Edison[/name_m], [name_m]Florian[/name_m], [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Newton[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
What other names would you add to our list, trying to find one we love as much as [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. Top of our list right now is [name_m]Elias[/name_m], although I also like [name_m]Edison[/name_m] [name_m]Elias[/name_m] surname as well
I like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] & [name_m]Elias[/name_m] the best with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]
Maybe you could compromise with something like [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] nicknamed [name_m]Nikos[/name_m]? Other Greek names that are in the same style as [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] would be [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] & [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], and if we include names that aren’t Greek but are Greek in origin, then [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (maybe with the nickname [name_m]Alexis[/name_m] to make it feel more Greek), [name_m]Basil[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] or [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] would work well.
Names I think you might both like, and that complement Catherine:
Sebastian
Benedict
Leander
Rupert
Nicholas
Silas
Gideon
Philip
Whitby
Orlando
Darcy
Bennett
Frederick
Willoughby
Arthur
Thomas
Gilbert
Hugo
George
Edmund
Marcus
Timothy
Evander
And Richard goes well with Catherine!
But I should say I’ve given you names I think suit Catherine. I don’t really see your current list as working suoer smoothly with Catherine. Of the list, I’d pick Elias & Silas.
But overall, I see your list as going with: Lyra, Thea, Leonie, Zoe, Iris, Helen/ Helena, Vera, Callie, Ramona, Olive, Junia, Marlowe, Noemie & Olympia.
I think [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_m]Florian[/name_m] or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_m]Edison[/name_m] would be a beautiful pairing as well! [name_f][/name_f] Especially love [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] & [name_m]Florian[/name_m], and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] (like that [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is literary while not being too surnamey, which feels quite different from [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] for me?).
[name_f][/name_f]
Here’s a few ideas:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Amias[/name_m] (character in Spenser’s The [name_f]Faerie[/name_f] [name_f]Queen[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], has that S ending your partner seems to love, has the romantic feel of Florian) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jasper[/name_m] (feels a lot like [name_m]Florian[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] to me) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] (has the familiarity of Michael) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jude[/name_m] ([name_m]Jude[/name_m] the Obscure) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Fitzwilliam[/name_m] (Pride & Prejudice[name_f][/name_f], also similar to the -n endings you love, the [name_m]William[/name_m] portion could be much more traditional like [name_m]Michael[/name_m] and Richard) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Soren[/name_m] (has the N ending you love, ties to [name_m]Soren[/name_m] Kierkegaard and other literary works) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] (has the N ending you love, ties to The [name_m]Count[/name_m] of [name_m]Monte[/name_m] [name_m]Cristo[/name_m]… [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] would also be nice if you like him! [name_f][/name_f] Plus the friendly [name_m]Max[/name_m] would pair really well with Catherine!) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Peter[/name_m] (The Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], plus [name_m]Peter[/name_m] feels a lot like [name_m]Michael[/name_m] and Richard) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Emerson[/name_m] (N ending you love, ties to [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] [name_m]Waldo[/name_m] Emerson) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Augustine[/name_m] or [name_m]Augustin[/name_m] (St. [name_m]Augustine[/name_m], has the N ending, [name_m]Auggie[/name_m] or [name_m]Gus[/name_m] are lovely nns that feel a lot like [name_m]Zeke[/name_m], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Si[/name_m], etc.) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Dorian[/name_m] (A Picture of [name_m]Dorian[/name_m] [name_m]Gray[/name_m][name_f][/name_f], plus that N ending you love) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Finn[/name_m] (N ending for you, [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m] [name_m]Finn[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] for your partner [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Sawyer[/name_m] is also nice for this reason) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Earnest[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Holden[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Amory[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Samson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Darcy[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Percy[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Hemingway[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Kipling[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tennyson[/name_m]
Looking at your list I think paired with Catherin3 my favourites are [name_m]Elias[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Roman[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] + [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] with my favourite being [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]. I absolutely love [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] he’s handsome, has a gorgeous melodic sound, the sweet nickname [name_m]Izzy[/name_m] with the lovely meaning ‘salvation from the lord’ he’s gorgeous especially with Catherin3. I also think [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] is very classic like Catherin3.
[name_f][/name_f]
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so please count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
I really like [name_m]Elias[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and [name_m]Mylo[/name_m] for you [name_f][/name_f]- they fit well with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and with [name_m]Silas[/name_m], you’ve got the literary link too. I wonder if [name_m]Miles[/name_m] could be a consideration too [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f][/name_f] it’s got several literary connections and feels a bit more classic [name_f][/name_f] and[name_f][/name_f] could possibly work as a nod to [name_m]Michael[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
I do love [name_m]Keaton[/name_m] ‘Keats’ too but might feel a bit matchy with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] it she ever goes by [name_f]Cat[/name_f], Cath, [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f], or [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
Taking into account what you both want from a name, I’ll suggest…
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Auden[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tristan[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ashton[/name_m] (there’s a Wuthering Heights retelling which features the name [name_m]Ashton[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f] ) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Dorian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Orion[/name_m]
Of your names my favorite is [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] + [name_m]Silas[/name_m]! I do think [name_m]Elias[/name_m] is lovely as well but I think [name_m]Silas[/name_m] has the Greek roots and a more similar style to your favorites.
