So we have just found out we’re expecting a girl (early gender blood test - I’m so impatient!)
As some of you may know we already have a girl named Z@ra, middle name Kate which is in honour of my late grandmother.
I need your help with coming up with girls name suggestions please. My husband and daughter both like Scarlett, but I just can’t fall in love with it… I’ve really tried!
I do seem to prefer shorter names (although not a deal breaker!) and ideally not too popular or overused. I also like the idea of a slightly more unisex name for our second to balance out Z@ra, without being too mismatched. But again not a dealbreaker as one of my favourite names is Eliza which sadly my daughter doesn’t like (she’s 8)
Z@ra Kate is so pretty! I know I’ve told you this before but she’s such a darling. Scarlett is a lovely choice romantic and warm. But if you haven’t fallen in love scratch off the list.
I also want to say that yes it’s really lovely to include your daughter on the naming process but I wouldn’t take her word as gospel. I wouldn’t have your daughter’s opinion be a deciding factor. I have a three year old yes she comes up with fab names at times (she’s obsessed with the name Milo + Mila which are cute) but she also has dolls named Snowdrop. So if you really love Eliza don’t rule her out as children change their minds all the time and depending on her age do not have a full understanding of the gravitas of actually naming a child.
Some of the girls I know names [name_f]Zara[/name_f] have sisters named [name_f]Mya[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Maddy[/name_f].
One of them is actually [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] with sisters [name_f]Mya[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
Thanks so much! You’re absolutely right about my daughter, she’s 8 though so I do feel it’s important to make her feel included. BUT I’ve added [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] back in, as you say she might change her mind
Thank you for these suggestions, some beautiful ones I’ll sit and consider properly once I’m home from work
With the idea of unisex in mind, [name_f]Remi[/name_f] was first to occur to me. I find this spelling more feminine then [name_m]Remy[/name_m] though I guess either would work. I also like [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] with [name_f]Zara[/name_f]. Maybe -
