Sibling Names for Adelaide

HELP! We are trying to figure out a girls sibling name to go with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ([name_f]Addy[/name_f]). I am 31 weeks pregnant, and we don’t know if we are having a boy or a girl. We have our boys name picked out, but we cannot decide on a girls name! The 3 we have on our list :

  • [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ([name_f]Ellie[/name_f])
  • [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f])
  • [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_u]Penny[/name_u])

I have concerns with each of the names, that there might be something wrong with each. I worry [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is too plain next to [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I worry [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] will be shortened to [name_u]Matty[/name_u], which I strongly dislike. I worry [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is becoming too popular of a name.

I am trying to convince my husband to consider [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] ([name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]) because I love the name with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. He doesn’t mind the name, but really does not like the short form [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].

I am not really looking for new name suggestions, its taken us this long to narrow down a LARGE list to 3-4 names. I am just hoping for some opinions on what goes best with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. We plan to have at least 1 more child after this one, and I don’t want this one to be the middle child who’s name is not as good as her big sisters name! (I know I’m being silly!) Thanks!

When I read the title of this I immediately thought [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! If you use another nickname ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tillie[/name_f] or [name_f]Tilda[/name_f]?) then people won’t call her [name_u]Matty[/name_u]!
I agree that [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is too popular and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s too “plain” (and also quite popular as well), at least in my opinion
Nicknames for (the lovely) [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]: Nevie, [name_u]Nev[/name_u], [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
Overall my favorite would be [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] followed up by [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
