[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to get some ideas for sister names for [name_m]Charles[/name_m] – that one is non-negotiable since it’s my family name, but we plan to call him [name_u]Chase[/name_u]. Ideas we’ve thrown around for sisters:
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f]); I would be totally happy with her going by the full name or a nickname
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] (MY-uh)
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]; my husband loves this one but I’m indifferent, plus it’s so popular
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] or [name_f]Zoey[/name_f]; I like both spellings
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] – HATE [name_f]Liz[/name_f] and I’m worried it’s inevitable so iffy on this one)
[name_f]Callia[/name_f]; pronounced cuh-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-uh, I love this one but my husband thinks it sounds like Kahlua lol
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Andi[/name_f]); I’ve loved it since I was like 5 and was CONVINCED for 10+ years I would name my daughter this, and my husband is big into space/scifi so he loves it too, but it’s totally out there and not like our other names
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Cadi[/name_f]); from a character in a scifi book, I was almost named this and husband loves it, also totally out there
Some names we love but can’t use: [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Kate[/name_f]), [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is my favourite I think, but I’m worried it doesn’t really fit with [name_u]Chase[/name_u] very well, plus they both have the same ending. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] might fit better, but I don’t love it as much as [name_u]Eloise[/name_u].
We are hoping to have 3-4 kids, so looking for 1-3 sister names for [name_u]Chase[/name_u]… Any preferences from those listed or any other suggestions along those lines would be great! Thanks all!
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are my favorites from your list. I don’t see any problem using them with [name_u]Chase[/name_u]; I actually think they are very compatible. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is very nice too. A few other names inspired by your list:
My favorites are [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (I doubt anyone would shorten that to [name_f]Liz[/name_f], it doesn’t have that same sound like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] does) and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. [name_f]Callia[/name_f] I definitely wouldn’t pronounced like you said, more like “[name_f]Callie[/name_f]-uh”
I’m also a fan right now of [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] called [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] – I love this, and it would make her distinctive from all the Isabelles/Isabellas called [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], and [name_f]Bella[/name_f]
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] would go well with [name_m]Charles[/name_m], because then they’d be [name_f]Cadi[/name_f] and [name_u]Chase[/name_u]. I adore [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] would be fine with [name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_u]Chase[/name_u], but I think [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] is a bit too out there for it to work, especially since it doesn’t have any nicknames that would go decently with [name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_u]Chase[/name_u] either.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!! I’m glad you all think that [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] goes with [name_u]Chase[/name_u] @maywent, do you think that [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f]/[name_f]Andi[/name_f] don’t go well with [name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_u]Chase[/name_u]? I’m trying to get a sense for what makes names go well together in a sibset, and I don’t think I have a very good grasp on what to look for in order for them to flow together.
I also like some of the names you guys mentioned: [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I’ll ask my husband about those!!
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are too similar to be sister names, right? [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (since they have similar cadence and sounds)?
My initial thought is that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] are too close, but [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] could work.
Is there any particular reason why [name_m]Charles[/name_m] couldn’t be the middle name? [name_u]Trace[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] would match your style better. And I’m not sure you’d get [name_u]Chase[/name_u] - [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] would be more likely. [name_u]Trace[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] would be cute. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] would be also work
I love [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Callia[/name_f] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] for you!
Since [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] would go by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] by [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] I don’t think they’re too similar to work as siblings. I like [name_f]Callia[/name_f] because it’s short and simple enough to work with [name_m]Charles[/name_m] “[name_u]Chase[/name_u]” despite being more unique and uncommon, though [name_f]Callie[/name_f] would be even better if you’d consider it. [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] is more out there, but since you’ve loved it for so long I think you should use it! Nicknames like [name_f]Ann[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f]/[name_f]Andie[/name_f] really bring it down to earth.
What about [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] nicknamed [name_f]Elise[/name_f]? Yes - [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is a little bit rhyme-y with [name_u]Chase[/name_u], but could that work as a sweet little connection between siblings? [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are quite similar for siblings (both start with “[name_f]El[/name_f]-” and have the “Z” sound).

~[name_u]Chase[/name_u] & [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] (possibly a little bit of a stretch)

[name_m]Charles[/name_m] & [name_f]Viola[/name_f]
~[name_u]Chase[/name_u] & [name_f]Vi[/name_f] (prn Veye (like the start of [name_f]Viola[/name_f]) or Vee)
~[name_u]Chase[/name_u] & [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] & [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
~[name_u]Chase[/name_u] & [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
~[name_u]Chase[/name_u] & Ret
Thanks so much everyone!! As to why [name_m]Charles[/name_m] can’t be [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] – there is another little one in the family named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (cousin), so we wanted to go in a different direction I feel like if we are firm and consistent in calling him [name_u]Chase[/name_u], it’ll stick! Hopefully, anyway.
Thank you for all the great suggestions!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], and [name_u]Chase[/name_u] go okay together? I really like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] too but I feel like [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] sounds better than [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f].
