I am new to Nameberry, but need help with name lists for my baby that is due in [name]July[/name]. We don’t know the gender, so I am asking for your opinions and help on both boys and girls names.
We have a 31/2 [name]YO[/name] daughter, [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]. My partner and I really love traditional names, and are not fans of unisex names.
Our lists so far are VERY slim, actually we are only really convinced on the 1st name on each! I love both these names, but feel the need to expand!
GIRLS
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] ([name]Louise[/name] is my Mothers MN)
[name]Claire[/name] (but was very popular when I was growing up)
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] (a bit cheesy with [name]Ruby[/name]??)
BOYS
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] ([name]Henry[/name] is an old family name that my father loves, it has grown on me a lot!)
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Hamish[/name]
I also love [name]Leo[/name], but having a hard time convincing my partner, and also think it is starting to get too popular.
So any further suggestions along these lines are much appreciated.
I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] are great together! I also like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Claire[/name].
And for the boys I like [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Henry[/name] a touch more than [name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], but they are both great and fit very well with [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name].
I understand the need to expand, but I don’t think it is necessary, you have excellent choices here! Good luck!
All of your choices are lovely. I agree that [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] would be too cheesy so I’d avoid that. My favourite is [name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name], followed by [name]Lila[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are both handsome but I find [name]Hamish[/name] really ugly and I don’t like it with [name]Ruby[/name]. My vote goes to [name]Clara[/name].
I love [name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name]. [name]Clara[/name] is one of my favorite names, and it sounds lovely with [name]Ruby[/name]. I really like [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Henry[/name] the most out of your boys names- [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are another combination that I like together.
If you are looking to expand your list, however, here are some more names:
I do like the [name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Henry[/name] (or [name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]) options though, but it’s always nice to have options. Sometimes, once you see your baby, you realize one names feels more right than another.
I really like [name]Ruby[/name] & [name]Scarlett[/name], but if you ever had another child, you might feel pressure to keep up the “red” theme. I also like:
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] (I find [name]Claire[/name] too plain with [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Lila[/name] (this would be perfect, keep in mind that this is also a colour name, though it is subtle, its the word for purple in several European languages)
I adore [name]Clara[/name] [name]Louise[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]!
I agree with pp that [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is also super cute.
I am a big fan of [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Henry[/name], too.
Thanks all for the feedback and suggestions. It is quite comforting to know that my favorites are well received!
Shaymin2, I was aware of the ‘lilac’ meaning behind [name]Lila[/name], and I think the subtelness of the colour theme of ‘[name]Ruby[/name] & [name]Lila[/name]’ is nicer than ‘[name]Ruby[/name] & [name]Scarlett[/name]’. I also had an idea today of ‘[name]Ruby[/name] & [name]Jade[/name]’ - I think this combo is along the same subtle lines, but not sure if [name]Jade[/name] fits along the same traditional lines as [name]Ruby[/name]? Any thoughts?
I love the suggestion of [name]Noah[/name] [name]Henry[/name]. Does [name]Noah[/name] come across as a very Biblical name or is it more traditional/mainstream?
I think I like the name [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Henry[/name] slightly better also, but I have a work acquaintance who has children [name]Ruby[/name] & [name]Oliver[/name].
I don’t dislike [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Claire[/name], but can imagine horrible nicknames such as ‘Wee Wee’s’! It might grow on me the more I think about it!
