Hi! I am back and due with #4. Having our last baby and it’s a girl and I really struggle with girl names the most. My current kids names are:
Kennedy (F)
Sullivan (M)
Kerrigan (F)
I was set on the name Connell if it was a boy (which I got from asking here last time) , and I am sad I won’t get to use it. Some people suggested using it anyway for a girl. What are everyone’s thoughts on that? I feel like Connell is a boy name rather than a gender neutral name.
Here is my current girl list. I am not loving any of them honestly but I didn’t love Kerrigan when I was pregnant last time and I do now so maybe one will grow on me.
Waverly- this was on my list last time. It’s very pretty but I’m worried it sounds made up in the vein of Everly etc
Evangeline- this has been on my list since before having kids but I feel like it’s too far gone from the other names we chose.
Rowan
Fallon -like this for the Irish vibe but not sure I love it
Ellison- love this but worry everyone will just hear Allison
Madigan- feel like this goes great with the other kids names and like the nickname Madi but of course my mind is going (I’m mad, again!)
Anderson
Anniston
Hollis
Parker
Skylar
Any feedback on these names? Or I’m hoping someone has some amazing name I haven’t heard yet and will fall in love with.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Skylar[/name_f], [name_m]Parker[/name_m], [name_f]Waverly[/name_f] and [name_m]Rowan[/name_m]! [name_f][/name_f]What about [name_m]Connelly[/name_m]?
What about [name_m]Connolly[/name_m] for a girl?! I love that with your sibset! I also really like Connor/Conner for a girl but not sure if you want to keep the same 3 syllable theme going.
Congrats on baby girl! Question: did you intentionally pick names for your children that have a double letter? [name_f][/name_f]If so, from your list, I would probably go with [name_f]Anniston[/name_f] or [name_f]Fallon[/name_f] to stay with that pattern. [name_f][/name_f]Here are other suggestions as well:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Ivanna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Iva[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marietta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Etti[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Emmersyn[/name_f] nn [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Carissa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cari[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nn [name_f]Suzie[/name_f], Sooz, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Annette[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Nettie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Essa[/name_f], [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_f]Nessa[/name_f], [name_f]Nessie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] nn Rav, [name_f]Raven[/name_f], Venna [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Georgianna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Georgie[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
I love the subtle Celtic vibe, I like [name_m]Connell[/name_m] but I agree it feels more masculine. I love [name_f]Madigan[/name_f] so much, I also really like [name_f]Waverly[/name_f] but I don’t think it goes with the sibset.
[name_m]Connell[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- It sounds like you prefer this for a son. I wouldn’t force it to work. Choose something that feels right for the daughter you are having rather than reusing the name you picked for a son.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Waverly[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I think this will gradually become more familiar as it gets more use. It might sound like part of a trend to some but our name choices will never be liked by everyone or perceived the same way. I like how the ‘y’ ending sound balances out [name_f]Kennedy[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I agree, it’s a very different style to your children’s names which are otherwise well-matched. It would be very surprising, puzzling even.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Ellison[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I think you’re right, it will be often misheard as [name_f]Allison[/name_f]. I also think another three syllable name ending in ‘n’ feels a bit repetitive after [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] and [name_f]Kerrigan[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Madigan[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I think it’s very repetitive with ‘igan’ ending sound shared with [name_f]Kerrigan[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- This has never ranked for girls and reads boy rather than unisex. Depending on your surname, might find first name and surname get mixed up.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Parker[/name_m], [name_f]Skylar[/name_f], [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- All on higher in popularity and come off as more mainstream than the rest of your list.
ahhh, your kids names are gorgeous! and you have a Kerrigan!!! that is one of my absolute favourites!
[name_f][/name_f]
Have you considered [name_m]Connelly[/name_m] maybe? Enough like [name_m]Connell[/name_m] but with a hint of [name_f]Nelly[/name_f], [name_f]Connie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elly[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
From your list, I like:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Waverly[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I like the literary link and the sea-side feel; plus it’s distinct enough from [name_f]Everly[/name_f] to me at least.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Hollis[/name_m] → sleek and cool
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Ellison[/name_f] → charming, tough-but-gentle vibes; the EH-lis and A-lis sounds are quite different to me, if that helps
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Anniston[/name_f] → surnamey and stylish
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Rowan[/name_m] → warm, earthy and friendly
[name_f][/name_f]
Some other possibilities:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Evanna[/name_f] → not quite [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but similar, less frilly? [name_f]Evani[/name_f], [name_f]Evany[/name_f] and Evanie might also appeal?
I agree that Madigan sounds like “mad again” and is anyway too rhythmic after Kerrigan. I also wouldn’t do another -an or -on ending name after Sullivan and Kerrigan or Kennedy will be on own and I also think it’s clunky when you say the list aloud (lol). That removes a lot from your list.
Evangeline and probably Syklar are too far from rest - though Skylar gives you the K-S-K-S pattern.
I like Waverly, Hollis or maybe Parker the best. Waverly and Hollis related nicely with Sullivan.
Otherwise:
Ellery
Murphy
Tierney
Quinlan (edit: breach of rule but I like the name!)
Bellamy
Rooney
Delaney
Keeley (all girls K)
Darcy / Darcey
Dempsey
Sunday
Holiday / Holliday
Winslow
Greer
Congratulations! [name_f][/name_f]I love your kids names [name_f][/name_f]- whatever you end up choosing will be perfect. [name_f]Kennedy[/name_f] [name_f]Kerrigan[/name_f] & [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] I can see with
