We are expecting a baby girl. She will be joining big brother [name_m]Will[/name_m] (full name [name_m]William[/name_m]). We love the name [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] (and it’s a family name) nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. But we are nervous [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_m]William[/name_m] are too similar. Soo… we were thinking of naming her just [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. Our question is do you think [name_m]Will[/name_m] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] work as sibling names?? Or are they too similar? We are really struggling and it’s the only name we can agree on! Please help! Suggestions are welcome. I also feel like when we have a third and you say all three names together… it won’t be an issue. Thoughts?!
I don’t think they are too similar at all. I say go for it.
I think it’s fine. My name differs from my brother’s name by a single vowel sound and we are one year apart in age and it was never an issue.
I also think you should go for it. [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] if that is what you love – but obviously I’m partial to [name_f]Lily[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] works with [name_m]William[/name_m]. In my accent they don’t sound very similar, even though they look very similar with the double L’s and everything, and that makes them seem a very similar.
I also think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] works really well with [name_m]Will/name_m on her own. Really you can’t go wrong with either name in my opinion, though I lean towards [name_f]Lily[/name_f], simply because of how similar [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] look.
I think that despite looking similar [name_m]William[/name_m] & [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] sound distinct.
