Sibling to Hadley

[name]Hi[/name] to all berries…I am new to the board but always like checking out names at the site. I just had my daughter, [name]Hadley[/name] and thinking of names for her future siblings.

There are so many girl names I like but I wanted to get all of your opinions on names you think would be great a great sister for [name]Hadley[/name].

I like different, unisex, surnames as first names. Here is what I like so far:

[name]Presley[/name]
[name]Leighton[/name]
Landri/[name]Landry[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name]
Gracyn/[name]Grayson[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you like any of these or have any other suggestions?

Thanks,
[name]Becca[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] ! I think [name]Hadley[/name] is adorable for a little girl  From your list, [name]Tatum[/name] is my favourite by far followed by [name]Leighton[/name]. To me, [name]Presley[/name] and Gracyn/[name]Grayson[/name] are too trendy and quiet masculine. Likewise, [name]Blake[/name] to me will always be a boys name. [name]Avery[/name] is quiet cute, but it’s not my fave. Landri/[name]Landry[/name] is actually rather cute. Here are some suggestions I think fit your style and go with [name]Hadley[/name]:

[name]Sinclair[/name]
[name]Monroe[/name]
[name]Calloway[/name] ([name]Callie[/name])
[name]Dempsey[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name]
[name]Darby[/name]
[name]Ashby[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]
[name]Erin[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]/[name]Shay[/name]
[name]Shelby[/name]
[name]Bronte[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]/[name]Ellison[/name]
[name]Briar[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Sheridan[/name]
[name]Kit[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Evan[/name]

I also like [name]Hollis[/name] and [name]Harper[/name], but not sure if the ‘H’ is too matchy for you with [name]Hadley[/name]

[name]Hadley[/name] is such a great name!

I like [name]Landry[/name] with [name]Hadley[/name]. (But not Landri. IMHO, Landri goes with [name]Hadlee[/name].)

[name]Presley[/name] would be great, but then you’d have two ends-in-ley names. Are you thinking of a big family? You might end up desperately searching for a third (or fourth) ends-in-ley name for a future daughter.

It might be irrational, but I think “Ore-[name]Ida[/name]” every time I see [name]Tatum[/name]. I like [name]Tate[/name] - [name]Hadley[/name] and [name]Tate[/name].

From minkajoy’s list, I love [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Sinclair[/name], [name]Briar[/name], and [name]Quinn[/name]. I want to love [name]Sheridan[/name], but I’m not wild about the idea of [name]Sheri[/name] as a nickname. It feels dated - and inevitable.

A few others came to mind:

[name]Romilly[/name]/[name]Romy[/name]
[name]Marlo[/name]/[name]Marlowe[/name]
[name]Flannery[/name] (maybe too much of a literary vibe?)
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Blair[/name]

Best wishes!

First of all, I love the name [name]Hadley[/name]. [name]How[/name] old is your [name]Hadley[/name]? When I was naming my first daughter three years ago, I never heard the name now I see it cropping up on a number of naming boards. Seems that others have caught to [name]Hadley[/name]'s greatness. Great name, nonetheless. Does [name]Hadley[/name] have a nn? [name]How[/name] have ppl respond to her name? [name]Do[/name] you get any confusion for [name]Hailey[/name]? I love it and would love to name our second daughter that (due in [name]August[/name]) but DH is totally dragging his feet and I think it is because he knows it is my favorite.

Sorry, this was supposed to be about you, not me.

Well, I can see you watch some gossip girl due to [name]Leighton[/name] and [name]Blake[/name]. I feel like [name]Hadley[/name] altho some categorize it as unisex surname, the -ley ending gives it a more girly feel to me. Unlike [name]Blake[/name], [name]Leighton[/name] and especially [name]Grayson[/name] (even spelled Gracyn), I feel these names are just too masculine, especially [name]Grayson[/name] which has the whole -son ending which was traditionaly used for sons of father’s with the same name - jackson, johnson, jameson, etc. That being seid, I think the L- start of [name]Leighton[/name] saves it a bit for me.

I do not like [name]Landry[/name] at all, reminds me of laundry. I think other kids might make this association too as laundry is pretty common everyday occurrance.

[name]Avery[/name] is just too blah with [name]Hadley[/name] and the other names you’re considered, which are different names.

I like [name]Presley[/name], but I think the -ley ending is just too close and might be confusing when to the girls when you yelling their names across the house when they are teenagers. Did she say [name]Hadley[/name] or [name]Presley[/name]?

So of the names, you like I think I’d go with [name]Leighton[/name] or [name]Tatum[/name], but probably [name]Leighton[/name].

I have a [name]Hadley[/name] too! She is 4 now.
My other daughter is [name]Phoebe[/name]. This does not fit in with the unisex names. I simply chose what I liked!
Of your list, I like [name]Tatum[/name] the best. I recommend a different ending than the “ee” sound (my one naming regret).
What about:
[name]Fianna[/name] ([name]Fee[/name] - na) my new fave Irish name?
Aven
[name]Paige[/name] (on list - good choice)
[name]Bryn[/name]
[name]Bronwyn[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name] (originally a last name too)
What I like so much about [name]Hadley[/name] is that there is no nn. I did not put names on the list with that potential. I also personally do not like girl names to end in -son. They are daughters, not sons!!
Good luck!

[name]Everly[/name]
[name]Paisly[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name]
[name]Kennedy[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]

Wow! Thanks ladies.

You all have great thoughts and suggestions. Many of you like [name]Tatum[/name]…which I actually just started liking. Right now I love it for a sister to my [name]Hadley[/name].

[name]Tatum[/name], [name]Leighton[/name] and Landri/[name]Landry[/name] (don’t know how I would spell it yet) are my top 3. I know [name]Landry[/name] is a lot like Laundry but I still love the uniqeness and spunkiness of it. We just had [name]Hadley[/name] in [name]November[/name] so it will be a while till we start ttc #2 but I can’t help but think of other names.

I also love some of the names you all suggested but they are either already in use by family or friends. I love [name]Piper[/name] but that is our cats name so in a way i already have a daughter named [name]Piper[/name], lol!

I discovered the name [name]Hadley[/name] when I first was dating my husband. Heard the name from a classmate in college (her sister’s name) and then there was a street in the town my husband is from that we always drove by called [name]Hadley[/name] st.

We have gotten so many compliments on the name. People love how different and unique and cute it is. No one yet has confused it with [name]Hailey[/name] or [name]Harley[/name].

Her nicknames are Hads or Haddie which people seem to like as well.

When naming her, it was between that and [name]Presley[/name] which has always been a favorite because it has a lot of signifcance to me but yes, I agree with some of you that the -ley ending for two sisters would be too matchy and produce a pattern that we may have to stick with. In fact, I don’t think i will be able to use [name]Presley[/name] because my dh won’t let me because of the -ley ending.

haha, I actually don’t watch gossip girl but yes, [name]Leighton[/name] Meester and [name]Blake[/name] Lively are where I got the names from.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Some are nms but others I may have to start considering.

Thanks,
[name]Becca[/name]
