[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Annabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] would work as siblings? Those are the two names I seem to be the most drawn to and about the only names that I like all nickname possibilities and their pronunciations.
I think they’re distinctive enough to be their own and the added plus of having that connection of sharing the nn Anna/Ann (but ofc they would share their own separate nicknames)
AB would be [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], etc
AS would be [name_f]Stasia[/name_f], Stassie/Stacey, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], etc
What do you think personally? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know any sibsets or do you have any sibsets on your list that have that somewhat matchy sound?
I think that people who like names as hobbies (like most of us Berries, like me!) will not want to sign off on two sisters who share the same first two syllables…But, siblings in the real world have similar names all the time. It’s natural that people have the same sounds in their favourite names! (I’m the eldest of six girls. All of our names end in the ‘ee’ sound, and three of us begin with C! This was/never is a problem and not something that I’ve ever received a comment about, negative or otherwise!)
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear of sisters named [name_f]Annabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. The nicknames you have in mind are very distinctive.
That’s fair. It’s all about perspective and personal opinion, at the end of the day, sibling names are rarely said together when they’re older when they become their own people. Thank you for your response!
In theory, I’d probably avoid it - at one point my top boy and girl names were [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] & [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u] and it just didn’t work - but I’ve seen it work just fine in real life that it would be ok. At my high school, we had a brother and sister who’s names both started with ‘Jas’ and both of them got called [name_m]Jas[/name_m] by their friends and pretty much everyone who knew them at the school – I imagine it was a different story at home – but at school, they were a couple years apart so it worked
They are too matchy for me personally, and there is the chance that outside the home, they might both get called Anna/Annie by others, but I don’t think they’re unusable.
I’ve know of sibs with similar names (think [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]Soren[/name_m], [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] and [name_m]Nolen[/name_m], [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_f]Amina[/name_f] and [name_f]Adina[/name_f], [name_m]Timmy[/name_m] and Tommy) - some who have been totally fine with it, some who’ve found it a tad annoying, but I guess they’d be different ages, in different classes, so maybe it would be alright?
i actually don’t think they’re too similar! since they only have the same starting first two syllables, but the rest of the sounds are pretty different, it doesn’t bother me that much. i know siblings where all names are very very short, begin with an l and all end in an “ee” sound, personally i think that’s more similar than annabella and anastasia!
i might be biased because i love both annabella and anastasia as names, but i honestly think the world has seen worse sibsets! since the nicknames also are so different, i really don’t find the similar sounds of the full name a problem. if they’re the names that you’re most drawn to then i think you shouldn’t worry about it! i think they’re darling names both individually and collectively!
Personally I think it would be fine! The only thing that would bug me would be the [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and the [name_f]Ana[/name_f] at the start, just with writing it, but I think it would be fine! I do agree that they might both be called [name_f]Anna[/name_f] or [name_f]Ana[/name_f] but if they go by another nn. then I’m sure it will work and as another berry said, if they’re different ages it will probably be fine!
Some sibsets I have that are similar: [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] but I know that the nn. will be different.
Thank you so much! I definitely needed an outside opinion to get a good sense of the set
I think I would use them for siblings farther apart in age than for twins, that’s where I’d agree that’s a bit too matchy.
I think I’ve really been overthinking this I love them both so much, if I were to use them in the future, I’d hope the sisters love their shared phonetic moniker.
