[name_f]Cressida[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], and [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] are longtime favorites. I’m so glad they resonate.
[name_f]Leontine[/name_f] and [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] are ones I will have to mull over. They are lovely.
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] ([name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] is longtime fav), [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], and [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] are ones that had previously been on long lists but were cut before my eldest was born. Now deserving of second looks.
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are top faves.
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]/[name_m]Julien[/name_m]/[name_m]Julius[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucien[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucius[/name_m] are tops on our extended boys’ list but I’ll have to more deeply consider the feminine forms.
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] would fit well, as well as [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_f]Callisto[/name_f], [name_f]Callista[/name_f], [name_f]Oralie[/name_f], [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f].
Apparently I think the c/k sound fits
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], Caliope, and [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] were all under early consideration when pregnant with my eldest. I will think on [name_f]Xanthippe[/name_f].
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_f]Petronilla[/name_f] are beautiful.
[name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. Our last name is a single syllable beginning with a hard c/k sound, so I also find myself drawn to hard C names.
We love all that you mentioned, @EJpuddlejumper. Particularly with [name_u]Calypso[/name_u] and [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] I’d like your opinion whether they’re too match with the ending O or whether it would be nice to follow up our -io boys with an -o girl name.
I actually think [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], Anastasio, and [name_u]Calypso[/name_u] or [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], Anastasio, and [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] would be perfect together. I think the io- and o endings work well together and you don’t usually see o endings in boy or girl names.
Personally I wouldn’t try to stick to an -o ending because you run the risk of pigeonholing yourself but in addition to [name_f]Dido[/name_f] and [name_u]Hero[/name_u] there is:
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f] (I think this would work very well in your set)
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_u]Echo[/name_u]
[name_f]Clio[/name_f]/[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Amargo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margalo[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_u]Rosario[/name_u]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
[name_f]Charo[/name_f]
[name_f]Scirocco[/name_f]/[name_f]Cirocco[/name_f]
[name_f]Milagro[/name_f]
[name_f]Thallo[/name_f]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
@brittanyanitarose, we really do have similar taste based on this and every other post I see you responding to.
We love:
[name_f]Celestina[/name_f] (prefer [name_f]Celestine[/name_f])
[name_f]Isidora[/name_f] (prefer [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] à la [name_m]Duncan[/name_m])
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] (I truly love this name but always get caught up with the ‘si bella’ in my mind. DH has said he likes this one and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybille[/name_f], too).
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] (considered for baby 1)
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] ([name_f]Frances[/name_f] is our favorite form)
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] (definitely under consideration)
[name_f]Viridiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Ione[/name_f]
[name_f]Galatea[/name_f] (DH guilty pleasure)
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] (definitely under consideration)
[name_f]Calantha[/name_f] / [name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] (considered as a middle for baby 1)
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Estela[/name_f]/[name_f]Estrella[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f] (love these names but our dog is [name_f]Stellaluna[/name_f])
[name_f]Jacinta[/name_f] ([name_f]Jacinthe[/name_f] and [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] are favs)
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] (was my favorite name about 15 years ago. I agree it would stylistically match my kiddos)
[name_f]Titania[/name_f] (DH guilty pleasure)
[name_f]Madrona[/name_f] (Madrone has made it into a couple combos in the middle spot. I worry about the religious connotation)
[name_f]Neoma[/name_f] (I love this and my husband loves [name_f]Noemie[/name_f], but he things [name_f]Neoma[/name_f] is “out there.” … go figure)
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f] (prefer [name_m]Calixto[/name_m])
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_u]Echo[/name_u]
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] (LOVE)
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Amargo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margalo[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
[name_f]Scirocco[/name_f]/[name_f]Cirocco[/name_f]
[name_f]Thallo[/name_f]
Thanks for the awesome list!
@TeaJay, Thanks!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Filomena[/name_f], [name_f]Claudine[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_u]Antonia[/name_u], [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
In particular I need to interrogate [name_u]Antonia[/name_u]. I have had [name_m]Antony[/name_m] on my boy’s lists in the past and I don’t see why I shouldn’t crush on [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] a bit.
[name_f]Benedetta[/name_f] (Bénédicte is on our middles list)
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] (top!)
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] (top)
[name_f]Lucretia[/name_f]
Piccarda (I have never considered this as a name before but I remember her from [name_m]Dante[/name_m]. Beautiful and worthy of consideration certainly)
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Liviana[/name_f]
We know an [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f], and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] partner is very against giving names of children we already know.
