Ok fellow name-nuts, I need some help.
I have one son 4 [name]Liam[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] ([name]Anthony[/name] is his father’s and paternal grandfather’s middle name, as well as being his paternal great-grandfather’s first name)
My fiancee (different from [name]Liam[/name]'s father) and I are thinking about starting to try, but we’re stuck on boy name number 1!
We know that his middle name is [name]Robert[/name] (my fiancee’s middle name and his father’s first name) and our last name begins with R and has the “ih” sound and a lot of “t” in it as well. Boy numbers 2 and 3 (if we have that many) are already picked: [name]Micah[/name] [name]Scott[/name] ([name]Scott[/name] is his mother’s maiden name) and [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] ([name]Patrick[/name] for my mother [name]Patrice[/name] and [name]Thomas[/name] for my maternal grandfather).
Our girl names are: [name]Kathryn[/name] [name]Rose[/name] ([name]Kathryn[/name] for my maternal grandmother and [name]Rose[/name] is both my middle name and both my maternal and paternal great-grandmother’s, both who were extraordinary women), [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Claire[/name] ([name]Claire[/name] is his maternal grandmother), [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Joy[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name] ([name]Joy[/name] is for his mother [name]Joyce[/name]), and [name]Aria[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name] ([name]Aria[/name] is because I am a classically trained opera singer and [name]Vivian[/name] was my paternal grandmother and [name]Anne[/name] is my mother’s and grandmother’s middle names)
I’d love all thoughts, opinions, and critiques on ALL names, but most importantly, poor little no-name number one boy.
My fh likes [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Conner[/name]
I like [name]Jason[/name] (fh is [name]Justin[/name], thought it might be cute for similar sounding names without the [name]JR[/name])
My mother like [name]Garret[/name] and [name]Jared[/name]
I actually really like [name]Micah[/name] [name]Robert[/name] or [name]Robert[/name] [name]Scott[/name], nn [name]Robbie[/name], though I don’t know how open you are to robbing from future siblings!
Of the names you and your fiance are considering for this baby, I think the -er ending of [name]Conner[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] runs too much into the beginning of [name]Robert[/name]. [name]Jason[/name] works quite well, though perhaps another J name like [name]Joshua[/name] might give your son a bit more his own - he already shares a middle and last name with your future husband after all.
Of your mother’s suggestions, I really like [name]Garret[/name] but I think it sounds too similar to [name]Robert[/name] for the two of them to work together. [name]Jared[/name] is ok but I don’t think as good as some of your other options. I really like your future sibling names by the way, especially [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. [name]Just[/name] lovely!
Having [name]Robert[/name] paired with a last name with a lot of ‘t’ in it is tricky. You want to try to balance it out a little. I actually think [name]Micah[/name] is really nice… why don’t you use that for boy number one instead of saving it for a boy you might not even have?
I really like [name]Micah[/name] [name]Robert[/name] as well, or even [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Robert[/name]… I think you are still left with quite a few family names for other children (love the sound of [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Scott[/name]). What about [name]Owen[/name] [name]Robert[/name], [name]Jensen[/name] [name]Robert[/name], or [name]Hugh[/name]/[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Robert[/name]?
(Also, just a strange coincidence for your mother’s choices but I have a friend who is now married to a [name]Garrett[/name], but was previously engaged to a [name]Jared[/name], so seeing those names listed together was weird for me! haha) Good luck! =]
I don’t care for the repetition of the -er sound in [name]Connor[/name]/[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Robert[/name]. Not crazy about [name]Garret[/name] or [name]Jared[/name] either; [name]Jason[/name] [name]Robert[/name] isn’t bad.
As others have said, why save [name]Micah[/name]? I like it. If I were you, I’d also consider:
