Silvia or Sylvia

Which spelling do you prefer and why? Do you get a different vibe? Would people mistake the spelling?

I slightly prefer [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] because it draws more attention to the name’s meaning :deciduous_tree:, whereas [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] feels more like a vintage choice rather than a nature name.

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I just think it looks prettier and softer.

I agree with @Luminen about [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] feeling lighter, fresher and more naturey, but I think so many people would default to the [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] spelling (assuming you’re in an English-speaking country) that I’d probably still recommend going with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] if you’re not leaning strongly either way.

I prefer [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] because I like the letter i more than the y.

I prefer [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], as others have said, it feels fresher. However, I do think that this spelling will be mistaken a lot.

(However, I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] over Silvie)

I prefer [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] as it feels a bit fresher, but I agree with @katinka that in many places it’s likely that [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] would be the default spelling! If you don’t have a strong preference, I would probably go with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] for ease of wear.

Both are lovely, but I personally would go for [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] just because it feels more familiar. You really can’t go wrong with either spelling, tho! :two_hearts:

I agree with what others have been saying: [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] feels lighter/fresher, but [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is the default spelling. However, speaking as someone who gets by with a hard-to-spell name, it’s not the end of the world. Go with the spelling you love most. I personally prefer [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], but the name is beautiful either way.

I like both! I can’t decide which I prefer.
