Similar names to Auden

I love the name Auden. But I can’t get past the fact that it’s the name of a poet who wrote a famous erotic poem (one of the first results to show up when you google it) and the second that it’s an underwear brand at target (the other thing that shows up when you google the name). Too many negative associations for me.

I like UNIQUE gender neutral names with meanings like friend, compassion, blessing, kind etc

I like the way Auden looks and sounds, although we have considered Arden… it just sounds a bit “harsher” to me.

We have a little one named Wynn Ellis, so I’m also trying to match that vibe

Looking for any suggestions, thank you!!

I love the name Auden - and my main association is the poet and his Funeral Blues poem, and even then I don’t immediately think of anyone/thing outside it being a gentle, bucolic sounding name with a lovely meaning: Old Friend.

But here are some names that remind me of it or have the same gentle, evocative feel:

Gabe
Arlo

Auden is a great name! I’m sorry you’re feeling disenchanted about it.
If it helps, I have never heard of those negative associations that you mentioned.

I appreciate that!! I come from a conservative background so it’s mostly worrying about what other people think!
