Sir Winston

What do you think of distinguished [name_m]Winston[/name_m]?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you associate it with a grumpy Englishman or wrinkly old bulldog? Or is it ready for a modern revival (currently sitting at #402)?

I personally like the connection to [name_m]Churchill[/name_m] and also the namesake of [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Lennon[/name_u]'s middle name. I also love the potential nickname [name_u]Win[/name_u] or Wins (can’t get DH to go for [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] for a girl but this could work).

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer it as a first or middle? And which name from my signature would you pair it with?

Thanks,
x

I think [name_m]Winston[/name_m] is ready for revival and like it in the first name spot. [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] is amazing!

No, [name_m]Winston[/name_m] is still very dusty to me.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you associate it with a grumpy Englishman? Yes… but not in a bad way. I love [name_m]Winston[/name_m], there’s something endearing about him. I’d love to see him make a revival, I definitely think it’s due.

From your signature, I think he pairs well with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Seymour[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] make for fabulous pairs.

I love [name_m]Winston[/name_m]!! It was my guinea pigs name and I’m kind of sad I’ve already used it! It feels old man bland clunky but in a good way. It reminds me of 1984 and that’s one of my favourite books!

[name_m]Winston[/name_m] fits in well with [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Ned[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] in your signature!

Some pairings I’d consider are:
[name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]

I’d also suggest something like [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Forrest[/name_m], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Griff[/name_m], [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] or [name_m]Doug[/name_m] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! That’s awesome that you mentioned the [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] association. That’s a big part of the reason why I like it too (I was named after a Beatles song, so… ) I’ve never thought of the nn Wins, but that’s adorable. Could you even do the nn [name_m]Wit[/name_m]?

I think that [name_m]Winston[/name_m] & [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_m]Winston[/name_m] & [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_m]Winston[/name_m] & [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_m]Winston[/name_m] & [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] are my favorites. Although separately I love [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] from your list.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I love [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! I actually know a family who had a baby [name_m]Winston[/name_m] about a year ago now. Siblings are [name_m]Rocco[/name_m] and [name_m]Ryder[/name_m], so that gave it a very cool modern edge for me.

I like [name_m]Winston[/name_m], nice choice.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m] nn [name_u]Win[/name_u] as a first name! (Personally I associate it not with a bulldog but with a fluffy cat, but can definitely picture it on a human today.)

I feel like it’s a thoroughly palatable old man name. It even sounds a little trendy to me honestly. More along the lines of Emerson and Wyatt than, say, Abel or Frederick.

I think it’s a sweet name but not really my thing, for those reasons. Also very much tied to Churchill for me. Not a bad thing necessarily but too much of an association in the UK unless you’re using it as a deliberate reference.

Think [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] or [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] would be fab btw! Something fun-but-old definitely livens him up if that’s a concern for you. he also very much suits your other boys
