Sister for Audrey Rose

Hello! Looking for feedback on our current list for baby girl #2 due in May. We picked my daughter’s name, Audrey Rose, right away (named after both of my grandmas), but are having a harder time deciding on baby sister’s name. We have it narrowed down to Avery, Sadie, or Claire and are considering the middle names Josephine/Jo, Lucille, or Anne, which are all family names. Claire is probably the favorite on paper as it seems to fit in the same timeless/classic category as Audrey but we can’t seem to confidently pull the trigger on it. We love Avery and Sadie as well, but second thoughts on those are if Avery is too matchy/if we want the same initial or not (our last name also starts with A) and it is more trendy than the other two names and second thoughts on Sadie are that it can have more of a country vibe depending on what it’s paired with and some people have said they think of it as a pet’s name. Open to any feedback/opinions/suggestions!

With Audr3y R0se……I like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].

I think it is the most classic like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. I chose [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] because I think it sounds best and it gives both names a total of three syllables each. There is something pleasant sounding and balanced to that when both names are said.

I think you are spot on with your description of Claire; objectively I would choose it as the best name to complement [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. I’m sure you’ve thought of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] as an alternative, but if not, it’s an obvious one that would work just as well as [name_f]Claire[/name_f].

[name_f]Avery[/name_f] “matches” [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] visually; it also locks you into a bit of an A----y pattern which might be a consideration if you are planning more kids after #2. It is different stylistically, but it certainly works with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] based on sound. Other similar names could be [name_f]Everly[/name_f], [name_f]Waverly[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Ivory[/name_f], [name_f]Valerie[/name_f], [name_f]Emery[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Hilary[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] … if you like the sound but want to avoid another A name.

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] does sound a bit more casual than [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], but again, on sound it does work as a sister name. Would you be open to using [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]? I think that could work nicely with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] for you!

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is warm, sunny and fun, but with both solidity and spark too! It pairs well with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. I’d personally skip Jo/Josephine as a middle if you want to avoid a country vibe - but [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] are sweet. You could even do [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] to give it a different feel.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is bright but classic, solid, clear and versatile. It works well with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and has totally its only sound. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] are nice - [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josette[/name_f] might be sweet too.

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Avery[/name_f] aren’t too similar but they are matchy (A start, -ry end sound) and I prefer the other too.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], and [name_f]Blair[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] came to mind too

I think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] have the best flow and match stylistically with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] would work well with all potential middle names

If I can mix your ideas around a little:

  • [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] “Josie”/Posey”/“Poppy” (I agree that I’d avoid the hyphen [name_f]Jo[/name_f] middle unless that’s what you’d hope for!)
  • [name_f]Claira[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] (second being the [name_f]Brit[/name_f] Klaara pn, think it’s brings some frill to the name that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] has)
  • [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] “Sadie” (with [name_f]Diana[/name_f] as a nod to Anne)
  • [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] “Immy”
  • [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] “Pippa”
  • [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] “Sunny” (and with [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] also a nod to Anne)
  • [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] “Mara”/“Maisie”/“Peggy”
  • [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] “Polly”/“Lomi”

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Avery[/name_f] Claire/Anne

I agree with the other posters on [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. It gives me the same vibes as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and it doesn’t sound as similar as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Avery[/name_f]. I would say to avoid matching names because it becomes confusing when said. Other suggestions…

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] (less matching than [name_f]Avery[/name_f], but still that A initial)
[name_f]Ellery[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] (I agree with other posters on this one. so sweet )
[name_f]Sally[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]

hope this helps!

I don’t think country or pet with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] pick would be [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are great sister names.

[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] to NB!

I’m actually going to go [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] on this one. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I agree [name_f]Claire[/name_f] matches the classic vibe, I think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is classic in a different way from [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] being more sunshiney-classic and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] being more film-noir classic. Sound-wise I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is better.

I would go with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].

Hopefully this helps! The other one that comes to mind for me to match Audrey’s vibe is [name_f]Lola[/name_f].

If you wanted other suggestions, I would say maybe (mix & match as you see fit, of course):

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Blair[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

Hopefully these help!

For Audr3y Ros3’s sister, I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]!
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] would be my 2nd choice.
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a beautiful name. Sophisticated and timeless!

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Avery[/name_f] sound distintc enough, but they don’t share the same style or vibe from my point of view. Visually, I also don’t adore that both share so many letters.
Unfortunately, I’m also not crazy about [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. I can’t get past the first three letters. I definitely prefer other variations like [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] or [name_f]Suri[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be a lovely sister name for [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
