We are torn between sweet/romantic [name_f]Willa[/name_f], and an exotic/feminine [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]. I’m not quite in love with either but I’m very close to being there - I think I just need a nudge in one direction or another.
Which one goes better with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] & [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m], [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]?
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] is an outlier and feels too homey and pastoral compared to the elegant evening glamour of [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f].
I like the name [name_f]Willa[/name_f] on its own better than [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]–but [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] has the same exotic, foreign feel as [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m]. So, I’d say [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] goes best with your other kids’ names.
I realize [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] is a classic name used by [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] but is it fresh enough to use now days, or does it scream outdated 80s/90s name?
I agree with PPs that the international, exotic feel of [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] goes better with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_m]Dmitri[/name_m] than [name_f]Willa[/name_f] does. I don’t associate [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] with the 80s/90s, but I’ve never known anyone of any age with the name. If anything, it makes me think of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m].
I’ve never been a fan of [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is just too lovely to pass.
On another note, I’ve been considering [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m]/[name_m]Dmitri[/name_m] if baby is a boy, I would love to know your experiences of having a son with this name… Gosh, it would be so helpful!
I love the name [name_f]Eva[/name_f], by the way, [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are longtime loves of mine, but no longer usable for me as I have a [name_f]Ziva[/name_f].
Can I suggest to you the name [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]? I think it has the international style of your kids’ name and although it has the same initial as [name_f]Eva[/name_f], I think it’s completely different. And to [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] as well. Another name: [name_f]Mira[/name_f].
Another vote for [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] with [name_m]Dmitri[/name_m] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is more vintage cute than international classic. If you aren’t in love with [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], here are some more possibilities:
[name_m]Dmitri[/name_m], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], and
Thank you all for the great suggestions! I’m going to run them by my hubby.
Lailanotlilah - our [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] is three years old and literally everywhere we go people compliment him on his name. We live in the US and his name is very uncommon here but it’s still familiar enough that no one thinks it’s odd. I love his name so much! I hope you use it!
That’s great to hear @noro226! My SO and I both love it, but members here on NB were concerned it was too Russian. We also are not sure about the spelling… Did you at some point consider the [name_m]Dmitri[/name_m] spelling? Did you find [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] easier for people to say and spell?
I apologize for filling your thread with so many off-topic questions!
I think [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] would fit perfectly, the right amount of being unusual. It’s such a lovely name, I would use it myself if I did not have bad associations.
Lailanotlilah - we like classic international names better than current trendy names so the fact that [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] is Russian didn’t bother us - it is also Greek. We do have dark hair and light olive skin so people assume we are Greek or Russian. We get asked occasionally but usually we only hear compliments on his name rather than questions about our heritage.
We chose to spell it [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] because we felt it was the easiest spelling for him to learn and for others here in the US - plus I liked the way it looked better than [name_m]Demetri[/name_m] (which looks too spread out and a little chunky imo), and [name_m]Dmitri[/name_m] (looked a little too foreign for an American and incomplete).
