Okay, so now that my DH and I are TTC we are looking for some good girl names.
Our DS is named [name]Emory[/name]. What are some good names that can fit with this name? I don’t want to put my list up right now since that may influence what is posted. I can say that I love names with history and I love names that are strong and not too frilly. I consider names like [name]Seraphina[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name], though pretty, to be too frilly for me.
I really like [name]Emory[/name]! It’s got an vintage New [name]England[/name] vibe going–like he ought to be hanging out with [name]Katherine[/name] Hepburn or the family from Blueberries for [name]Sal[/name].
I’d try to avoid a -y -ie -ee ending to make sure each child has a distinct sound…you don’t want to stray into [name]Emory[/name] and [name]Emily[/name] territory.
I am really liking:
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]/[name]Martha[/name]- can’t choose between these two.
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Dorothea[/name]- though I think [name]Dorothy[/name] may be my preferred, but they are both lovely.
[name]Ingrid[/name]- my DH vetoed this though, but I still love it.
[name]Katherine[/name]- I can’t decide if I like this more, or if I like [name]Catherine[/name] more. They are both lovely.
[name]Sabrina[/name]- I like this, and I also like the similar sounding [name]Serena[/name]. [name]Serena[/name] makes me think of tennis, but I guess that isn’t the worst association.
[name]Alessa[/name] would also be lovely - treads a fine line between strong and frilly. I featured it in my blog earlier this week if you want more info on it
I have so many new names to love now. I especially love [name]Bridget[/name] (the name that is strong and girly, but not too girly), [name]Ida[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], and [name]Amara[/name] (this is lovely)! I will show these to my DH. Thanks to everyone for responding!
