I have a bunch of boys but only one daughter. I named her right here on the berry forum 10 years ago. I would love to know what you’d name a sister solely based on her name.
[name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]

[name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
To match the first name and middle name vibes of [name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] (which is so lovely—I know a 3y/o [name_u]Happy[/name_u], too!) I’d go with a favorite from my own list: [name_u]Vision[/name_u] [name_f]Beulah[/name_f]. I think these fit together like puzzle pieces! Delightful, unusual, head-turning, and really warm.
To stray a little bit from the exact pattern of cool-word-name followed by sweet-and-grandiose-name, I think these could also be real sweet:
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_u]Zenith[/name_u] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Flower[/name_f] [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Royce[/name_u] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Junie[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]
[name_u]Fern[/name_u] [name_f]Eudora[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
Hark [name_f]Elowyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_u]Moon[/name_u]
I love [name_u]Vision[/name_u] [name_f]Beulah[/name_f]! Definitely a stunner.
[name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_u]Moon[/name_u] is 100% a name I would use in heartbeat for either gender!
[name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is so lovely!
With [name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], I’m thinking…
[name_u]Glow[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_u]Snow[/name_u] [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]

[name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Zadie[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] but I think it’s probably too matchy. You need something equally bright and quirky but not another adjective, I think…
[name_f]Bijou[/name_f]
[name_u]Marvel[/name_u]
[name_u]Cleo[/name_u]

[name_f]Delphi[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]

[name_f]Sosie[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Bea[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
I’m assuming that “Happy” is a nickname…?
No

[name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is lovely
I’d name a sister [name_f]Lulie[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Glory[/name_f] [name_f]Natasha[/name_f], [name_f]Tiggy[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f], [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], or [name_f]Meggie[/name_f] [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]!
Thank you! I especially like [name_f]Lulie[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] & [name_f]Tiggy[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is just magical
I like the idea of another virtue name and thought some other ideas could be [name_u]Promise[/name_u], [name_u]Blessing[/name_u], [name_u]Liberty[/name_u], [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_f]Mercy[/name_f], [name_f]Patience[/name_f], [name_f]Charity[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f].

Some gorgeous virtue names already on here but I also like the idea of a spunky, sweet nature name:
[name_u]Cricket[/name_u]
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Bunny[/name_f]
[name_f]Bambi[/name_f]
Also, [name_f]Lovey[/name_f] comes to mind as an unusual option!
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]
The child is already named
For what it’s worth, I think [name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is a lovely name. [name_f]Happiness[/name_f] is a beautiful, universal concept. It’s no different than naming a kid [name_f]Joy[/name_f] or [name_f]Patience[/name_f] or any other virtue name, really
She is already almost ten years old and has yet to be teased. She actually has a lot of friends in school. Yet I was teased for my name which was the number six most popular name the year I was born. This point is moot. Especially today with so many children having different names. In fact, my 15 year old son is named [name_u]Pilot[/name_u] and he also has never been teased for it. And his teacher told him he has the best name of the year.
She loves her name. Yes I have asked her. If she decides one day that she doesn’t, she can go by [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Delia[/name_f] or whatever the hell she chooses. I go by my middle now as an adult. It’s really not that serious.
I got her name from a movie of an adult woman named [name_u]Happy[/name_u] (Gigantic). In fact there are many movies with adult Happys (mostly male) and have met many people who know adults named [name_u]Happy[/name_u]. It used to be a pretty popular men’s name back in the day.
You’re only 18, you shouldn’t take life so seriously. We don’t and I teach my kids not to. I have lots of strange and unusual names in my family tree and they are all dead and gone now and someday we will be too. So I am going to name my kids what I want to because I like the names and not because made up societal rules told me it was appropriate and acceptable. That’s a sad way to live, and in this house all we want to be is [name_u]Happy[/name_u].
Thank you.
I wonder if once upon a time people thought [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] were “absurd words” that would bring about endless teasing. The only reason you accept some word names as a “respectable name” and not others, is usage. They are familiar to you because of usage. The name [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is a “respectable name” but let’s break it down and really think about the sounds… [name_u]Kris[/name_u] - toe - fur… TOE FUR??? None of us bat an eye because the name is so common and we’ve all heard it a thousand times. Where I live, there is a large amount of immigrants and most of their names are completely foreign to me at first, but once I learn them and say them over and over, they become normal and easily roll of my tongue. And as far as I know, none of them have ever had trouble with job interviews, etc… [name_m]Just[/name_m] because you haven’t heard the name or seen it used before, doesn’t mean it is absurd. [name_u]Happy[/name_u] is a beautiful name with a beautiful sound and meaning. The more people accept and use diverse options for names, the more familiar they will become.
