Hey, Berries!
We still can’t pin down a name for our baby girl, due in [name]April[/name]. Our last name sounds like Wight but is spelled like the color. Big brother [name]Henry[/name] has 5 letters in his middle name as well, so we thought it would be cool for both of them to have 5-5-5 names, a neat little connection between them but something most people probably wouldn’t notice.
If we were having a boy his name was going to be [name]Felix[/name], after my great-grandfather, but we haven’t found any family names we love as much for her, so we’re on our own and pleading for your expertise!
Some we came up with:
[name]Agnes[/name] (our favorite before we knew she was definitely a girl, but now my boys are waffling!)
[name]Alice[/name] (almost too plain with our last name?)
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Coral[/name] (but two color names?)
[name]Edith[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name] (DH loves this but is not a My Fair Lady fan so he doesn’t understand that this would be cheesy! LOL)
[name]Hazel[/name] (I’m not too keen on having two H names, or – again – two color-related names, but I feel like [name]Hazel[/name] strikes the right note)
[name]Mabel[/name] (similar sound as [name]Hazel[/name], but I feel like it’s lacking the “feel.” Must be the missing Z!)
[name]Olive[/name] (another color! dang it!)
[name]Viola[/name] (I love this as an alternative to that color name [name]Violet[/name], but I know people would be pronouncing it incorrectly, and I have felt that pain far too many years to bestow the same upon my child!)
[name]Willa[/name] (sweet, but DH doesn’t like the alliteration with our last name)
One of DH’s favorite names is [name]Pearl[/name], which I would only use for a middle name. It’s kind of sweet, since that’s [name]Henry[/name]'s birthstone, but does it sound cheesy with our last name, even in the middle name slot?
A handful of other options for middles, almost all of these are family names but we don’t love them enough for the first name spot:
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Greer[/name]
[name]Irene[/name]
[name]Jewel[/name]
[name]Marie[/name]
And other names we like, style-wise, that aren’t 5 letters:
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Estelle[/name]/[name]Estella[/name]
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Gertrude[/name] (I know, this one’s pretty dusty! haha)
[name]Harriet[/name] (another H name I probably wouldn’t use)
[name]Ingrid[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name]//[name]Lucinda[/name]/[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Millicent[/name]/[name]Millie[/name]
[name]Rosaline[/name]/[name]Rosalind[/name]
And [name]Henry[/name] would’ve been [name]Mary[/name] if he’d been a girl, but I wouldn’t use it now because they’d both end in -ry!
Any other 5-letter names you think might be a good fit? First or middle! Thanks so much!
