We need advice! We named our first daughter [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], and love it. We love it so much, we don’t feel like we’ll find another girl’s name we like as much. My husband is a bit more traditional, but I like the weird names, mostly ones inspired by nature or travel. We’re thinking of a mn of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], since this baby was conceived in Iceland when we saw the Northern Lights. So far, we kinda like these names, but don’t think we have “the one” yet:
I think the combo [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] would be stunning! The only downfall I can see is if you have any more kids, you might get stuck in a naming rut, since [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] both have four letters and two syllables.
Here are a few more suggestions for your consideration:
Since you already have [name_u]June[/name_u], I wouldn’t use [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. With [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] as the middle, I would choose [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] sounds great but is a bit literal/descriptive. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] a bit theme-y, and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] sound too similar. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is perfect.
Of course, if you like the ‘red dawn’ meaning, then [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is perfect too! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] do sound cute together. Or you could use [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] as a first, nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Aura[/name_f].
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is really pretty. I think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is a great middle name too.
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]: I like this one. I don’t know how I feel about [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] though
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]: I am a fan of this name too. However, it sounds similar to [name_f]Isla[/name_f]'s middle name
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one. My favorite out of your choices
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]: Cute name.
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]: Not really a fan of this one. Definitely not feeling [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
Some suggestions you might like:
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]! I love the idea of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] as a MN Maybe even a first name?
I would cross [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] off the list because it’s too close to [name_u]June[/name_u] for me.
The only name I can think of to go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. (or something with nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f]). It just sounds like pure perfection to me, “[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Elle[/name_f]”. Maybe [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]?
Ok, I’m being dramatic, here are some more ideas:
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] &:
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] / [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
Thanks everyone for your help! Definitely some great suggestions. I think my favorites so far are [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. Good points about some of my “maybe” names not sounding good with [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. We’re not totally sold on that mn, just wanted to maybe somehow honor where she was conceived (since the idea for the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f], while we pronounce it the Scottish way, came from a trip to a magical little island in [name_u]Peru[/name_u] where we built a little stone tower as an offering to the gods and asked for a baby), and Icelandic names are…difficult. The only one we like so far is [name_f]Lilja[/name_f] (pronounced [name_f]Lil[/name_f]-ya), and I can envision my future of hearing “Is-la and [name_f]Lil[/name_f]-Ja!” from everyone. I love the name [name_u]Winter[/name_u] too, but my husband is definitely not on board with that- all he hears is the quote from Game of Thrones. He also refuses [name_f]Luna[/name_f], because of a wrestler from the 80’s? Clearly he needs less pop culture in his life
From your original list, I like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], but choose a different mddle name than [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]?
From your new list I like [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
