I am a fan of the classic and sleek [name_f]Mary[/name_f]! It goes great with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as well! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!! Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

Thanks! I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]- has always been my favorite and I loved how simple and understated it was- but every time I try to pull the plug- despite it being my favorite for many years- I never can. Not sure what my issue is with it! Definitely keeping it on the table.

I notice a few people voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f]- which I totally get- I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]- perfect sibling set. But DH and I want 5+ children and I worry it will box us in to only very very classic timeless names. Thoughts?

I voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but I have always been a hugh fan of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] too. It is also my mother’s name, so I’ve always imagined pairing it with something else. I love the way [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sounds as a whole first name then having a separate middle name. I also like the idea of [name_u]Ali[/name_u] being a nn for [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Ali[/name_u]…both are cute, and with the nn being [name_u]Ali[/name_u], it might be easier with future children to go a little trendier. Although, you can’t go wrong with very very classic timeless names.
Good luck

I love love love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] + [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] + [name_f]Greer[/name_f]. Adorable.

[name_u]Adair[/name_u] or [name_f]Greer[/name_f].

I went with Ingrid as I like the weight of it alongside the very soft and frilly Lucille ‘Lucy’. Both Lucille & Ingrid have a classy and antique type vibe going on, but sound very different and I like that a lot.

If you like classic, I vote that you go with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Doesn’t get any more classic than that.
However, I would have voted for [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] or [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] if the nn was [name_f]Hetty[/name_f] instead. So cute!
Also, I adore [name_f]Greer[/name_f]!

Thanks everyone! And I’m officially more confused than ever hah! Nice to be around people who have very similar naming tastes as me. Was just talking names with a good friend of mine and her suggestion was [name_u]Rylee[/name_u]… far from my taste  It sounds like you guys like most of these names- which makes it even harder. I’m glad you guys think that [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] goes with most of them.

I love the idea of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. The only thing is- our whole family has a tradition of doing two middle names (so [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_u]Addis[/name_u] K******). Her middle names are sentimental. This baby will likely be (just using [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as an example) [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] K****** - again- all family names in the middle. I wonder if we could do something like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] K****** - and skip [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]- and call her [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. Food for thought!!!

Either [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] go best w/[name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! After reading this - DH is hooked on [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] K******- going by [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. So we may go from there! Thanks so much!

I was tossing up between [name_f]Mary[/name_f], a [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], and I eventually went for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], but [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] sounds great!

I don’t think having two kids called [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] will box you in too much in terms of naming style, it might become what people will expect of you but it doesn’t really matter. There are heaps of classics out there of varying degrees of obscurity, I think all the names you listed on the poll would fit very well with your sibset. I wouldn’t stress too much.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is adorable! My only concern is that your other daughter has the middle name [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. I guess that isn’t a big deal.
I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]. Her initials would be MASK though. [name_u]Boo[/name_u] :frowning:

  1. [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
  5. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
  6. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
  7. [name_f]Henriette[/name_f]

I realize that you don’t want to box yourselves into a “classic name pattern” but [name_u]Adair[/name_u], [name_f]Greer[/name_f] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u] sound like they were named by different parents than the couple who named a girl [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] has come back in to style enough that it could be paired with any of these names without boxing you in too much. I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and agree that if you call her by a double first name, she could have just 2 other names (second middle and last).

I love [name_f]Greer[/name_f] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. Timeless and classic!

I don’t think you’re boxed by choosing [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or other classic names at all! It is the most versatile style. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is also a good choice, I’m very fond of it myself. Modern surname names like Greer and Scout are the ones that are hard to do a different style with. If your goal is to use names like that I’d suggest using a bridging name that is both old fashioned and trendy like: Audrey, Madelyn, Jocelyn, Evelyn, really most -lyn names work well in that role. Then you could make a nice sibset like Lucille, Audrey and Paige or Lucille, Jocelyn and Adair or Lucille, Kaitlyn and Addison. Any of the unisex style names that lean mostly girl. If you have any boys then you have even more flexibility because boy surname styles go very well with classic girl names: Lucille, Mary and Harrison or Lucille, Alice and Jackson or Lucille, Everett and Austin. I’d stay away from any of the more old fashioned names like Harriet and Frances if that is the direction you want to go in.

If you play around making sibsets that will let you know how you feel about style matching. There is no one right answer for that.

They’re definitely the three most different- and I agree about [name_u]Scout[/name_u]- but I personally do think [name_u]Adair[/name_u] and [name_f]Greer[/name_f] work- especially because as someone else said- [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] has become more popular in recent years.

To give you a sense of our boy style- our top 2 front runners are [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]- leaning towards [name_u]August[/name_u] ([name_m]Augie[/name_m]) which I think modernizes our names a bit. Both DH and I have very very strong opinions about taste and have been talking names for 9 years- and these are the only ones we really were able to narrow the list down too. We do like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] too- but it never is love enough to make it into the top 10 for us.

Thanks for the feedback! I think we will probably end up ruling out [name_u]Scout[/name_u]- as it’s just a bit too different from our overall style- but I think we might be able to get away with [name_f]Greer[/name_f]- as most people don’t know it’s a Scottish surname. None of the -lyn or -son names are really up our alley I don’t think- I think they feel a little dated back to about 5 years ago and may not be as timeless in the long run.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]!
