Sister for Mabel and Arthur

Which sounds best with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. I love old vintage names with no nicknames.

Bonnie
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]

What’s your ranking and why?

Thanks!

I like [name_f]Opal[/name_f] the best because it fits exactly with your description of your style and your kids names!

  1. [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] — It’s not as vintage, but I personally feel like it fits with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] the best because it’s distinctive and the style matches as well. There aren’t similar sounds to cause confusion either.
  2. [name_f]Opal[/name_f] — I love [name_f]Opal[/name_f], it’s sweet and spunky, however, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f] both end in the same sounds, which can possibly cause confusion.
  3. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] — Not my style, and while it keeps up a Celtic theme with [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], to me at least, it doesn’t fit with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] stylistically.

Mabel and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] are beautiful together!

My favorite out of the three is [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] sounds nicer with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Opal[/name_f], though I’m probably a minority.

My favorite is [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], but stylistically, I feel like [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] matches your other kids’ names the most :slightly_smiling_face:

I feel that same. I think [name_f]Opal[/name_f] fits my style best but I’m worried it’s too similar to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] :pensive:

I don’t think so! Me and my sisters names are quite similar, but it’s never been a problem!

My favourite is [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], it’s beautiful and goes well with M and A! Although it has some potential nicknames, if that bothers you.

My second favourite is [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. It fits your description nicely.

Bonnie is my least favourite. It’s nice, just doesn’t have the “wow!” factor your other two options have imo.

I pronounce [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] as [name_f]May[/name_f]-Bull so I think that [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is different enough if that’s how you pronounce it! I also heavily emphasize the p in [name_f]Opal[/name_f] (O-PULL) think mid-western U.S. saying of “Ope!” (If you’re familiar with that at all).

I wouldn’t worry about them being to similar if that’s the one you like the most! I think it goes wonderfully together [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], and [name_f]Opal[/name_f] chef’s kiss.

I tend to only notice similarities if they have the exact same sound I.e., if [name_f]Opal[/name_f] was actually Obel (O-Bull). B and P are such different noises to me.

Anyways I’ve rambled enough about my pronunciations. I will say if you aren’t a fan of the similarities I’ll go against the grain and vote for [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]. I think it fits very well along side [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] have very similar vibes and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a classic but shifts more towards quirky vintage (which is what I’d put the other two as)

Juliet is also a wonderful name, but seems less shiny and sparkley than your other two for some reason. I think you’ve done a wonderful job picking names thus far and I’m sure which ever you choose it will be perfect

I think all would go nicely with brother and sister, but for different reasons! [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] fits your description of being vintage and not having nicknames, [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] goes well with the gravity of the other names (but does have potential nicknames), and [name_f]Opal[/name_f] reminds me a lot of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]’s style!

Thank you for the thorough response. I do pronounce the names the way you said. So your response has put my name at ease. I’m definitely leaning towards [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. Thank you!

I really like all the names, but I think [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] fits in best with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] is so sweet, and I like that it shares the same number of syllables as the others, but has a different beginning and end.

Bonnie (has the sweet quality of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] while still being as upright as [name_m]Arthur[/name_m])
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (my favorite overall)
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] (I don’t like it and it sounds too similar to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f])

Opal - one of the national Australian gems and it’s so pretty

Juliet - Romantic and [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]

Bonnie - I know one whom I immensely dislike. Not my favourite name from your list.

Would add [name_f]Jane[/name_f] to your list. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]!
