Sister for Madelyn

My 3 yo daughter is called [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], and I am pregnant with my second and I haven’t chosen any names yet so could do with some help! I don’t know the gender so I’ll pop over to the boys forum too. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] rarely goes by [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], she’s [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] about 99% of the time.

I like:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] (It’s just SO popular)
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (Again it’s really popular)
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] (I like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] to but it’s more popular)

I think my favorite is [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] right now, but I can’t make my mind up. Which do you like? And if you have any suggestions please let me know!

I like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] as well

From your choices:

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] (It’s just SO popular) - I agree. Popular is fine, but I feel like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is everywhere!
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (Again it’s really popular) - This is less popular where I am, but it feels a little abrupt next to [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f].
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] - I think this sounds way too close to [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], which is understandably why you’re probably drawn to it! But say “[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] / [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]” a few times together, and I think you’ll hear it.
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] - Also too close to [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], and offers pronunciation problems.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - I think this is cute and could really work.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - This is nice too.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] (I like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] to but it’s more popular) - Also the popularity, and she’s going to get mistaken for [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] all the time.

Some other suggestions:

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] / [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] / [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] / [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] / [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. All of your ideas are very sweet, beautiful names- don’t let popularity bother you too much if you love a name.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] are my favourites suggestions from above. Other ideas:
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora/name_f
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]

I adore [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] -so I won’t present alternatives.
From your list though I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] has so much potential for lovely combination names (it combines esily ) plus I love the name anyway.

I like the contrast in the names ending with the vowel sounds to [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]. I agree that [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is just a bit too popular, and that [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] might just be a little too similar. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] sound lovely together, though! As do [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. (All these names look pretty side by side, as well!)

I’ll also second the [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and throw in [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] could work nicely as a pairing.

Congrats on the second!

I really like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] though they do sound similar! I like the suggestion of [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] but [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is nice. Others you may like are

[name_u]Haley[/name_u]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]/ [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]

I, too, love [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] together. I’ve only ever met one little [name_f]Eva[/name_f], so it doesn’t seem that popular to me? I mean, sure, it’s in the top 100, but [name_f]Eva[/name_f]'s a classic. I love [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], and I’m very biased in her favor, as it’s my baby sister’s name, but I don’t think [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] work together. When I say them together, they start smooshing into each other’s sounds. So I get Matalie and Nadelyn. The middles are just too similar for me. Which is a shame, because I think [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] are gorgeous together. Otherwise, I like [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] from your list. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is gorgeous, and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is definitely not popular! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are nice, but not really my cup of tea.

Good luck!

From your original options I like:

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] & [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

Also like the previously suggested:

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] & [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]

I’d add:

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] & [name_f]Evanna[/name_f] (ee-vah-na) which is beautiful, unique and reminded me of [name_f]Eva[/name_f] which you mentioned might be too popular
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] & [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] - I think changing [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] to [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] eliminates the issue of [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] sounding similar
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] & [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - thought of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] as an [name_f]Eva[/name_f]/[name_f]Eve[/name_f] alternative although I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] might be trending too.
