Sister for Maeve Audrey ?!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone

We are due with baby girl number 2 in 3 weeks and still don’t have a name picked!

My husband and I can’t agree on many however have come up with a short list so would love some feedback or other suggestions.

My husband is Irish and we love Irish names (hence [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]) however spelling can be an issue where we live…

Our last name is very short at 3 letters and one syllable.

Here are some names we can both agree on

”ine - Front runner at the moment.
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] (spelling may be too much of an issue)
[name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] (unsure about this one)

I personally love the names [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] however my husband isn’t a huge fan.

If you have any feedback or suggestions I would love to hear.
Thanks

[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]

I personaly love [name_f]Stella[/name_f] as well  [name_f]Hope[/name_f] I helped

I [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]! [name_f]Aine[/name_f] is my favorite of your choices. Other ideas:
[name_f]Una[/name_f]
[name_f]Brenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Fia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ciara[/name_f]
Liadan
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]
[name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f]

My favourite is [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], but unless you live in the UK or [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], I don’t think its usable. I like [name_f]Aine[/name_f] too, but I think you’d have the same issue. I love [name_f]Orla[/name_f] though, that’d be my choice.

”ine is a lovely choice with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but you will have to be prepared to correct the pronunciation often, unless you spelt it [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. I wouldn’t let that put me completely off it though. I actually think [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is more wildly recognised and I like it more too.

Is there an Irish name you like that has an alternative spelling? Since you have [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Maebh[/name_f] perhaps you could do a similar thing here. Or instead maybe use an Irish name with a more traditional spelling.

[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]/[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]/[name_u]Kiva[/name_u]
[name_f]Aoibhe[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f]/[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Clodagh[/name_f] - I like this one as I don’t think the pronunciation is too hard to grasp
[name_f]Roisin[/name_f]
[name_u]Shannon[/name_u]
[name_f]Grainne[/name_f]/[name_f]Grania[/name_f]/Granya

[name_f]Non[/name_f]-Irish names

[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] but find the spelling too difficult, and pronunciation would be difficult in the US. [name_f]Orla[/name_f] is nice too but so close to “oral”… From your current choices I would vote [name_f]Aine[/name_f] but spell it [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Fia[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], and [name_f]Una[/name_f] too. In general my vote would be an Irish name with English spelling.

Other ideas:

[name_f]Ailish[/name_f]
[name_f]Deirdre[/name_f]
[name_f]Eavan[/name_f]
[name_f]Kiera[/name_f]
[name_f]Riona[/name_f]

I personally [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Aoife[/name_f]! The spelling could be tricky but it’s a gorgeous name and if you live it then I would say go for it!
[name_f]Ailish[/name_f], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] came to mind right away and I think they would all be lovely with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (although [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] may be too similar). I also love [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] (Scottish) and [name_u]Shea[/name_u]. Good luck!

I like

[name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Aine[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (I had to look up [name_f]Aine[/name_f] pronounciation, I thought I knew all the Irish names!)

Ha, you and I share a similar taste in names.

In an Irish vein, I very much like [name_f]Orla[/name_f] (and also [name_f]Oona[/name_f]). I think ”ine and [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and both perfectly usable in the States because while the pronunciation is not intuitive, it is easy and doesn’t contain ambiguous sounds. I know an ”ine who lives in Spain, and people here are fine with her name (I’m sure they all get it wrong to start with, but they all learn it).

One of my favourite Irish flavour names is [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] (ee-sult). I also like [name_f]Shona[/name_f].

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is my favorite from your list – I also think [name_f]Orla[/name_f] or [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] are nice. Personally I would not use the ones that are hard to pronounce, though the rising star of actor Saorise [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] will help with that one!

From your list I’m loving [name_f]Orla[/name_f] with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

My suggestions for easy to spell/say yet cool Irish names would be…

[name_f]Brenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Alanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f] (or [name_f]Ciara[/name_f])
[name_f]Deirdre[/name_f]
[name_f]Tara[/name_f]
[name_u]Shea[/name_u]
[name_f]Aimee[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
