DH and I are expecting our second daughter in august, but we need help with her names.
We liked the names [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] (kye-rah) and [name_f]Keira[/name_f], but we decided it would become too much of a jumble if you tried to shout those with our daughters name at the same time (like you would do when supper is ready or to get them away from the hot cup of tea on the counter).
We like names on the shorter side in general, and we are looking for a name that has preferably between the 3-6 letters. 2 or 3 syllable names would also be great (our surname is 1 syll.)
We like names that aren’t too complicated and have a light vibe, aren’t too old-fashioned, but aren’t too made-up, Yooneek, Cre8iv or gender swapped either.
There are some more names we like in our signature as a guideline. Could you suggest some more?
Thank you in advance!
EDIT:
Thank you guys for all the magnificant responses. I made another thread with the list of the ones we liked.
You can find it here: Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums
I love [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], and [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]; I think any of those would work really well with [name_u]Mika[/name_u]!
I really don’t think I have any names to suggest, my style is very different to yours, perhaps [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]? Although it’s well known, it’s beautiful and it means “shining light”
I really like [name_f]Aya[/name_f] from your signature! I like how both [name_u]Mika[/name_u] and [name_f]Aya[/name_f] have meanings in multiple cultures and that both are used in Japan.
Most of the names in your signature of lovely and I don’t think you could go wrong picking from them. But as you asking for ideas, here goes. Building from the names in your signature:
Instead of [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] or [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], what about [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]? While it has the same K sound at the beginning, the o ending makes it easier to say with [name_u]Mika[/name_u]. I also think [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is a bit more unique and spunky than [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] or [name_f]Calla[/name_f].
Instead of [name_f]Maya[/name_f] or [name_f]Mara[/name_f] have you considered [name_f]Margo[/name_f]? If you want another M name, it is less similar than either of your choices to [name_u]Mika[/name_u].
Instead of [name_f]Sera[/name_f], what about [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] or [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]?
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] is lovely but have you thought about [name_f]Freya[/name_f]? The k is eye catching in [name_u]Mika[/name_u] and I think the y has the same effect with with [name_f]Freya[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] seems a bit clunky next to [name_u]Mika[/name_u] but [name_f]Tori[/name_f] works well with. [name_u]Mika[/name_u]. Mince you like [name_f]Nessa[/name_f], have you considered [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]?
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f] has that eye catching v in the middle but strikes me as have info kreative spelling feel. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is lovely but seems more traditional than [name_u]Mika[/name_u] Have you thought about [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] instead of those too. If the middle v is appealing, what about [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Livia[/name_f]?
[name_f]Noa[/name_f] is nice but I think it will be misspelled as [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and people will assume she is boy when seeing her name on paper. [name_f]Neha[/name_f] is more unique but the - ha draws my attention. I love [name_f]Nola[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Noa[/name_f] that is less common than [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites with [name_u]Mika[/name_u] are [name_f]Tori[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Nola[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u].
We quite like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Reina[/name_f], [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] and we absolutely adore [name_f]Celine[/name_f].
[name_m]How[/name_m] strange, the only [name_u]Mika[/name_u] I know’s sister is [name_f]Kira[/name_f]! I think it’s an adorable sib-set, but that might be because they’re beautiful, intelligent and selfless girls. I was going to suggest [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] & [name_f]Calla[/name_f].
