Sister for Millie

I named my first daughter Millie and I’m coming to regret it because I feel like it’s limiting my options for her sister’s name, in the sense that I would also need to pick a short, cutesy name for her sister.

My favorite choice is Elodie, but I feel like I’m pairing a cutesy and old-timey English nickname with a beautiful, fuller, more modern French name.

Do you think Millie and Elodie sound like sisters? Or does Millie sound insubstantial next to Elodie? Would Millie and Ella sound better? I’d love to hear from anyone who has a Millie with a sister.

Another thing is that the two older boys have one name ending in the “e” sound and the other not. I don’t know if I like three out of four “e” sounding names leaving one odd man out. Or maybe I am overthinking it.

I think [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] make a lovely pair of sisters. They don’t feel too different or too unbalanced. I rather like that [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] has that extra syllable beside [name_f]Millie[/name_f].

The fact that the boys’ have one “ee” ending too is tricky… if you don’t like having one odd ending out, then [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] wouldn’t work of course. But if it’s the name you love and the “ee” endings don’t quite overshadow that love, then I think it’s excellent! There are always nicknames like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] to balance out the sounds.

I think you might be overthinking it just a little bit. Siblings names don’t have to be perfectly matchy in every way, they honestly don’t have to be matchy in anyway. It’s easy to concentrate on the name when they aren’t here because that’s really all you can control at the moment. But, and this is MY personal take and I hope you take no offense, I don’t think siblings names should necessarily have ALL the pull when deciding (within reason) because ultimately these are individual people with their own personalities etc. and it is hardly ever going to matter what their names sound like together.

Now, to answer you question, [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] sound perfectly fine together to me.

Naming is sooooo hard!

Honestly [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is such a sweet endearing name that’s easily recognisable and has a great vintage flair. Please don’t feel regrets about her name you chose well :hugs::hugs:

I think [name_f]Millie[/name_f] & [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] are great together! I like that [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] has the extra syllable next to [name_f]Millie[/name_f] as for me I think it eliminates that overly cutesy vibe. I also think stylistically [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] works well with [name_f]Millie[/name_f] they both feel very fashionable and girly together such a great pairing. I also think [name_f]Ella[/name_f] sounds beautiful with [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. I absolutely love [name_f]Ella[/name_f]!

The ‘EE’ issue with the older son along with the girls could be slightly jarring if your really into themes (like me) however it’s completely personal preference so it’s whether you’d find it too jarring or not really. However if this is the case [name_f]Ella[/name_f] could be a great alternative.

Some other ideas

Eloisa/Eloise ~ feels similar too [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] but doesn’t have that ‘eee’ ending like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] so eliminates that complication. [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] would very clearly avoid the theme.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] ~ has the ‘e’ sound at the start that you clearly love but ends in a ‘a’ so avoids any theme issues. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is also a nickname name with a vintage flair so pairs nicely with [name_f]Millie[/name_f].

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] ~ pronounced ez-MAY I think she’d actually be a perfect choice she feels sweet and is short spunky choice like [name_f]Millie[/name_f] but has the [name_u]French[/name_u] flair of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. She is a subtle nod with the ‘e’ ending to your other kiddos but with the ‘May’ sound at the end completely avoids any issues of a theme & someone being left out. I think [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is perfect

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

[name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] work beautifully together!! If it helps, I know siblings called Arabe11a and Mi11ie so [name_f]Millie[/name_f] can work with a longer name!

As for the ee endings, so long as the beginning sounds are different enough.
