Sister for Wisteria Fleur

Hey everyone… I’m back again for more name advice.
Once again, not for myself… but for a very close friend…

Background:
She currently has one 14 year old daughter named [name]Wisteria[/name] [name]Fleur[/name] (Nickname [name]Ria[/name]). Which they have caught some crap for over the years from family and friends, but they love the name and, most importantly, their daughter ADORES her unique name.

They have been trying for years and years, and finally got pregnant with their second child. Another little girl. The whole family is over the moon.
Everyone agrees that the baby should have an uncommon floral name like [name]Wisteria[/name]'s and they want it to provide a cute little nickname that goes well, but isn’t too matchy, with [name]Ria[/name].

They’ve wanted this baby for a very long time and they aren’t going to accept just any name (but what mom does, really). I want to put together a nice list of suggestions to give her since they’re struggling with it and have now asked friends to help.

Any advice on a nice floral first and middle name to go with [name]Wisteria[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]?

[name]Just[/name] have to say [name]Wisteria[/name] has been a guilty pleasure name for me. It is really gorgeous!

I’ll admit I don’t know if im pronouncing most of these right… but, how about…

[name]Amaryllis[/name], lots of nick names in that one
Alpinia- [name]Penny[/name] maybe?
[name]Jacaranda[/name]- maybe too far out there. [name]Jackie[/name]… [name]Andy[/name], [name]Randy[/name]?
Cattleya- [name]Cat[/name]? [name]Lea[/name]?
[name]Laelia[/name]- some obvious choices

oh my gosh!! [name]Penny[/name] is sooo cute!! [name]Penny[/name] & [name]Ria[/name]!! That’s beyond adorable…
I’m putting Alpinia on the list just for that nickname, though i don’t know how they’d feel about that…
Are there any other flowers that might offer the nickname [name]Penny[/name]?

[name]Forsythia[/name] nn [name]Thia[/name] (may be too matchy with [name]Ria[/name])
[name]Hyacinth[/name], nn [name]Cindy[/name] (because it sounds like [name]Cynthia[/name])
Larkspur, nn [name]Lark[/name]

[name]Briony[/name] [name]Clover[/name]
[name]Corisande[/name] [name]Maple[/name]
[name]Acacia[/name] [name]Tulip[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Marigold[/name]

oooh. I love some of the names that you guys have suggested. I mostly love the ones that have the “[name]Lia[/name]” nickname attached to them… but they’ve already ruled out [name]Lia[/name] as a nickname because [name]Ria[/name] and [name]Lia[/name] are just too rhymey.
Here are some of my favorites that have gone on the list so far::
[name]Acacia[/name] (nn [name]Cacey[/name] or Cici)
[name]Briony[/name] (nn [name]Bri[/name])
Chrysanthe (nn [name]Chrysa[/name] or [name]Chrys[/name])
[name]Sakura[/name] (nn [name]Kiki[/name])
[name]Arissa[/name] (nn [name]Rissa[/name]) Actually like the sound of [name]Rissa[/name] & [name]Ria[/name] together
[name]Magnolia[/name] (nn [name]Maggie[/name]) If anything, i think the nn is a bit to common
[name]Camellia[/name] (nn [name]Cami[/name], [name]Melli[/name], or [name]Mel[/name])
[name]Peony[/name] or Alpinia (for the nn [name]Penny[/name])
[name]Marigold[/name] (nn [name]Mari[/name])

I adore [name]Flora[/name] for the middle name since it means the same thing as Big sister’s [name]Fleur[/name] but doesn’t sound too matchy, so it would be like honoring the older sister with the new baby’s name… i’m pretty sure my friend and her husband will love it too. Are there other names that mean “flower” that might work as sweet middle names?

These are my favorite combos with [name]Flora[/name]:
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Flora[/name]
[name]Briony[/name] [name]Flora[/name]

so glad you love flora,i suggested it because of fleur like you thought
i love magnolia and thought lia would be too similar to ria but noli was something a bit different.
the two names you suggested are lovely,i also have more suggestions:

clover willow

petal blossom

tansy lilac

saffron petunia

daisy fiore (italian for ‘flower’)

[name]Love[/name] [name]Wisteria[/name]! I’ve never met one or even heard of one [name]IRL[/name], and nn [name]Ria[/name] is too fun. [name]Zinnia[/name] or [name]Marigold[/name] would be my top choices with big sis (and, frankly, are top choices for me if I have another daughter of my own :)) Also love suggestions of [name]Azalea[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name], but I feel that perhaps the first two have a vibe closer to [name]Wisteria[/name].

[name]Zinnia[/name] Bloom (nn Zin, [name]Nia[/name], Zoom)
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Shire[/name] (nn [name]Mari[/name], [name]Goldie[/name])

What a lovely challenge. Sorry for any repeats.

[name]Lavender[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] (underused in the fn spot I think)
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Sakura[/name]

Those are all that’s coming to mind right now other than really out there ones like Sweet Pea (my favorite flower) Honeysuckle (my other favorite) [name]Snowdrop[/name], [name]Tiger[/name] [name]Lily[/name] etc

[name]Saffron[/name] [name]Flora[/name] (not sure of a cute nn for [name]Saffron[/name] though)

[name]Lavender[/name] [name]Petal[/name] (nn [name]Vinnie[/name] is too cute)

Chrysanthe [name]Flora[/name] or Chrysanthe [name]Fiore[/name] are both adorable (love the nn [name]Chrysa[/name])
i can’t stop thinking about the name [name]Clover[/name] (could go with the nn [name]Love[/name] perhaps?)

[name]Clover[/name] [name]Fiore[/name] is lovely too and just as unusual and pretty as big sister’s name.

If you love [name]Penny[/name] as a nn, why not Pennyroyal? I think it’s kind of fabulous. [name]Penny[/name] is a name, [name]Royal[/name] is a name, and pennyroyal is a wonderful fragrant herb with many medicinal uses. Plus, when she’s an angry, disillusioned teenager, she’ll have [name]Nirvana[/name]'s “Pennyroyal [name]Tea[/name]” as an anthem.
I might pair it with [name]Rue[/name] or [name]Sage[/name], both also medicinal herbs that don’t sound so over-the-top botanical.
Pennyroyal [name]Rue[/name]. Or Pennyroyal (Something non-botanical.) I really like [name]Quince[/name] as a middle name, but I fear that with another botanical, it just becomes a big salad.

There have already been some awesome suggestions. I love the ideas of [name]Lavender[/name], [name]Jacaranda[/name], [name]Fern[/name] (I have an ancestor named [name]Fanny[/name] [name]Fern[/name] [name]Fitz[/name]), [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Pomona[/name], Calpurnia.

Wanted to add in:

[name]Freesia[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name]
[name]Primavera[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Verena[/name]
[name]Xanthe[/name]

Something still wonderfully blooming in my garden is Cleome, which comes with the great nn of [name]Cleo[/name].

Cleome [name]Flora[/name], nn’d [name]Cleo[/name]. [name]Cleo[/name] & [name]Ria[/name].

I think [name]Hyacinth[/name] would pair beautifully with [name]Wisteria[/name].

[name]Hyacinth[/name] [name]Posey[/name] would be a great sister to [name]Wisteria[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]. (I like how [name]Posey[/name] means bunch of flowers and [name]Fleur[/name] means flower - I like that both are “flower” names without being the name of a flower).

I first thought of [name]Acacia[/name] (nn [name]Cay[/name]). It was one of my first names that I obsessed over and was going to call my children [name]Acacia[/name] and [name]Hebe[/name] (I would steer clear of [name]Hebe[/name] though because of the teasing potential)

I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clematis[/name]! You can use the nn [name]Clemmie[/name]/[name]Clem[/name] and the flower is soooo pretty!
