We have just found out our next little one is another girl. We are so thrilled as there is just a 16month gap.
Our first is [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Mae[/name] so we are looking for a name equally unique and pretty but also goes well with [name]Imogen[/name]. We don’t want a common name.
This is my list but hubby only likes [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Esther[/name].
I like [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] together, I also like [name]Charlotte[/name] with [name]Imogen[/name]. I wouldn’t go for [name]Ivy[/name] or [name]Indie[/name] because then you would have two I names. I don’t really feel that the other names have the same vibe to them as [name]Imogen[/name] does. [name]Hope[/name] you find the perfect name for your little girl!
I think both [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Esther[/name] are adorable! Off of your list I also like [name]Indie[/name] (though I’d prefer it as a nickname), [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Tallulah[/name]. If you want something original, [name]Brooklyn[/name] was one of the most popular girls’ names a few years ago, [name]Charlotte[/name]'s making a comeback as we speak, and [name]Ivy[/name] is having a surge since [name]Beyonce[/name] name her daughter.
[name]Indie[/name] - I find this a bit nicknamey, plus it means you’ve got an I theme going which you might want to consider if you plan on more than two kids. Plus, it’s a type of music
[name]Eleanor[/name] - I like the full [name]Eleanor[/name] but none of the nicknames ([name]Ellie[/name], [name]Nora[/name], etc) so only go for it if you have one you like.
[name]Esther[/name] - I like this with [name]Imogen[/name], has the same feel.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - Ditto, though you say you don’t want a common name, and it’s pretty common in both the UK and US at the minute - like, top 20 popular.
[name]Ivy[/name] - I like this, but again with the I theme.
[name]Brooklyn[/name] - I find this a bit chavvy and very mismatched with [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] - Ditto
Talulah - Prefer [name]Tallulah[/name] spelling, it’s not massively my cup of tea but nice enough.
My suggestion for you has to be [name]Phoebe[/name]. For me, it gives off the same sort of vibe as [name]Imogen[/name], and I think [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name] would be perfect as sisters. They’re around the same popularity level as well (in the UK, at least - I don’t know what country you’re in) and if I could get my OH on board, if I had twin girls one day those would be the names.
Hmm…
[name]Indie[/name] - I’m not keen on [name]Indie[/name], I think [name]Indie[/name] is just too nickname-y also I find [name]Indie[/name] a little too informal next to [name]Imogen[/name]. I really dislike this choice. [name]Indie[/name] just isn’t my thing.
[name]Eleanor[/name] - [name]Ah[/name] a beautiful classic, rich in style and elegance. I adore [name]Eleanor[/name] she’s beautiful and sounds so pretty with [name]Imogen[/name].
[name]Esther[/name] - I think [name]Esther[/name] is very wholesome and sweet. [name]Esther[/name] sounds lovely as well I also love the connotations, but I don’t think [name]Esther[/name] works with [name]Imogen[/name]. They just sound too different.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - I love this choice, [name]Charlotte[/name] is such a sweet, wholesome name. I also love the nickname [name]Lottie[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name] is a beautiful classic. She works so well with [name]Imogen[/name]. Together [name]Imogen[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name] sound very British and cute together.
[name]Ivy[/name] - [name]Even[/name] though I love [name]Ivy[/name] she’s very cute and humble but I dislike [name]Ivy[/name] with [name]Imogen[/name]. Firstly having two names with the same initial could be limiting, for example a sibling set like [name]Fay[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], and [name]Cora[/name] seems strange the ‘C’ seems strange next too the two ‘F’ names.
[name]Brooklyn[/name] - I dislike [name]Brooklyn[/name], for me [name]Brooklyn[/name] is trashy and totally ruins [name]Imogen[/name].
[name]Lola[/name] - [name]Ah[/name] she’s such lovely name, with a really sweet Spanish feel. I love how [name]Imogen[/name] sounds with [name]Lola[/name]. The name sounds so gorgeous together. [name]Lola[/name] & [name]Imogen[/name] sound beautiful together.
Talulah - I dislike this spelling I prefer [name]Tallulah[/name]. [name]Tallulah[/name] is a very spunky choice but I dislike how [name]Imogen[/name] & [name]Tallulah[/name] sound together.
My favourites:
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
The only ones that seem to go with [name]Imogen[/name] are [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Esther[/name].
[name]Indie[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name] and [name]Lola[/name] clash with [name]Imogen[/name]. [name]Ivy[/name] could work, but then you might be stuck with an I theme to continue if you have more children. Another name with a quirky vibe to it would be better…and you said you wanted something not common.
[name]Charlotte[/name] is super common. Since you named your daughter [name]Imogen[/name], I would have thought that you liked old-fashioned names.
Suggestions:
[name]India[/name]
[name]Dolores[/name] - [name]Lola[/name] comes from [name]Dolores[/name] so you could use it as a nickname
[name]Rosalind[/name] or [name]Rosamund[/name]
A [name]Dora[/name] name: [name]Eudora[/name], [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Pandora[/name], [name]Theodora[/name], [name]Dorothea[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Audra[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] or [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Lavinia[/name]
[name]Araminta[/name]
[name]Indie[/name] - I would not recommend. Nicknamey and shares the start with [name]Imogen[/name]. Instead, consider: [name]Andrea[/name] nn [name]Andi[/name], [name]Edina[/name], [name]Clarinda[/name] nn [name]Indie[/name], [name]Belinda[/name] nn [name]Indie[/name], [name]Dorinda[/name] nn [name]Indie[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name] nn [name]Indie[/name].
[name]Eleanor[/name] - lovely! Also consider [name]Helena[/name], [name]Lenora[/name].
[name]Esther[/name] - love it! Also consider [name]Hester[/name], Hesper, [name]Vesper[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Estella[/name], [name]Estee[/name].
[name]Charlotte[/name] - very nice although much more popular than [name]Imogen[/name]. Maybe: [name]Olivette[/name], [name]Violet/name, [name]Juliet/name, [name]Letitia[/name].
[name]Ivy[/name] - too much I. Consider: [name]Edith[/name] nn [name]Edie[/name], [name]Eve[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name], [name]Livia[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Oliva[/name], [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Brooklyn[/name] – too popular/modern. For place name inspired names, maybe: [name]Persis[/name], [name]Roma[/name], [name]Astoria[/name] (also [name]New[/name] [name]York[/name])
[name]Lola[/name] - could work, a little too modern/“sexy” next to more bookish imagine though? Consider: [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Nola[/name]
Talulah - similar feedback to [name]Lola[/name]. Consider: [name]Talia[/name], [name]Thalia[/name], [name]Thalassa[/name], [name]Alula[/name]
Thanks for all your suggestions! We are in South [name]Africa[/name], but I’m American.
I’ve narrowed my choices down to [name]Esther[/name] (this is growing on me as this is my 90yr old great grandmas name) [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]. But will probably end up choosing one of the E’s as those are the only 2 hubby likes.
Really appreciate all the suggestions and comments though!
I really like [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name]! [name]Eleanor[/name] sounds very stylish and has a classical ring to it and [name]Ivy[/name] is a simple but beautiful nature name that I like a lot! Here are some other choices that may go with your tastes:
