My favorite is Isabel- it’s also spanish, and i feel they go really well. i’d say it also has the best nickname options!

I picked the above two because [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] in particular (while lovely) feel a little overdone to me - I hear them everywhere. Of course this depends on where you’re located though!

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] is such a lovely name, and all these go wonderfully with him! [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is probably my favorite pairing, but I like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] best in general. I also love Isabelle/Isobel but for some reason can’t get into the [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] spelling. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] are gorgeous together though!

Given they’re all classics especially, I think you should first pick the name you love the most and on second pick the name you think matches best with Leo.
I think if you want romantic and a little “fancy”, go Sophia or Isabel; for literary cool and vintage, Clara or Nora; and Ella covers all both.
For me, Ella would be my last choice because Elle names have been so popular & second, it gets a little lost with Leo. And I’m unsure about Nora, because Leo-Nora is a name, and for some reason they jar a little for me - but can see their scholarly & artistic vibes together. I like Isabel style wise - they sound very established and rather grand - but the Belle names have been so popular in the last couple of decades so I’d be reluctant myself. I might consider using a different Belle name. Sophia is gorgeous - it does have repeat sounds which could be a good or “bad” thing, not sure.
My faves are Clara & Sophia but they all work in different ways.

leo is such a handsome name! i love your shortlist too, they all pair with leo so well. of the five of them, isabel might be my favorite. it provides contrast while still feeling cohesive.

My vote is [name_f]Clara[/name_f]! [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] will all get lost in a sea of same/similar names. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is rising but I don’t think it will ever be as ubiquitous as the others. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is lovely and usually a top choice of mine but I hesitate for the same reason that others have mentioned, that [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] is an established name and they could sort of smush together when you say them or call them out across a playground for example, “Leo! Nora!”

We do really like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. My only hesitations are that it feels quite “2000s”, and I can’t help thinking of the “is a bell” joke/connotation. I also really don’t like the nickname [name_f]Izzy[/name_f], which seems almost inevitable! For those with an Isabel/Isabelle, do people automatically shorten it to [name_f]Izzy[/name_f], or is it actually quite easy to stick with the full name?
We are also torn between the spellings [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. Which do you prefer and why?
More recently, [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] has crept onto our shortlist too, and even [name_f]Mia[/name_f], although I wonder if [name_f]Mia[/name_f] feels a little too different in style from [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
And then there’s Sophia… it has honestly been my favourite girls’ name since long before I ever had children. I still absolutely love it, but I’m put off by how popular it is. Is it one of those names where the popularity doesn’t really matter in real life, or would you avoid it because of that?

I prefer the [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] spelling, to me it is a more chic and updated version of [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Izzy[/name_f] is inevitable, plenty go by “Belle”. I definitely grew up with lots of Isabelles and it may end up being a bit of a “mum name” to the next generation.
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] immediately jumps out to me as perfect with [name_m]Leo[/name_m]! Same international recognition and appeal. [name_m]You[/name_m] may get people mishearing it as “Amelia” at first but it is a small fix. [name_m]You[/name_m] can even use [name_f]Mia[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] or [name_f]Millie[/name_f] which are both so sweet with [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] does not feel stylistically different from [name_m]Leo[/name_m] to me at all. If anything, they may be a little too similar in their liquid vowel sound and 3-letter length.
If [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is a long-time love and one you may regret not using then I would definitely keep it on the list. It was [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for me, a name I have loved since I was 12 that I didn’t end up choosing because it rocketed to popularity when I was having my daughters. It retrospect, I don’t regret not using it, but I did have a year or 2 of pangs when I met other baby Hazels. My recommendation is if you don’t use your long-time love, make sure you are really sure about the name you choose instead, otherwise it could cause some grief. On that note, despite it’s long-time popularity and wide usage, I have not met one baby [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] in my 5 years of being a girl mum. Though like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], I do know quite a few my own age.
My vote is still:
Do take some time once she is here (if she is not already) to try the names out and see what fits before you announce it.
