After 2 boys I’m expecting a girl! I’m stuck on what to name her so I’ll tell you guys about my thoughts on name ideas:
I picked [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u] (C is 3 years older than J) because they aren’t really old names but aren’t new “trending” names. I loved [name_u]Corey[/name_u] because I thought it to be a good name at all ages and it’s not too common. [name_u]James[/name_u] I was a little hesitant to use because it’s more common but I loved how it sounded so posh and mature. I also loved how “[name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u]” flowed together.
Another thing I liked about [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u] was that they didn’t have the same first letter, second letter, or ending. What I mean by this is when choosing [name_u]James[/name_u]’s name, I didnt consider Calvin because of the C, John because of the O, or [name_m]Jimm[/name_m]y/Jimmie because of the ending sound. In my opinion they would look too similar and I didn’t like that. ([name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m].) I like it when the names don’t have similar sounds
A third thing to note is that I don’t want to use a name starting with a vowel because then her initials wouldn’t be ideal. I like names that start with consonants.
Also I want it to be a nice feminine name but not overly girly (anna, everly, etc.) or too unisex (alex, sam, etc.).
I should also say I don’t want a name ending in A please!
Right now I’m into [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] or [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] ([name_u]Meredith[/name_u] more) and I can’t think of any more.
I was in love with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but it had the same sound as [name_u]James[/name_u].
I’m really picky with names so please help!
*edit!! I’m loving the names Neve, Summer, and Leah as well! I love the sound of Leah Meredith but both end in H so I’m unsure
**another edit! So far the contenders are MEREDITH, NEVE, LEAH, and SUMMER. Still, my favorite is Meredith so if anyone could say some middle names for it that would be great! Or maybe Meredith as a middle name and something else as the first. Of course, new names are welcome as well as middle names so say whatever you want! I’ll check out all of them
I think I’m down to 2 names right now: Meredith (my original) and Leah (a new favorite) and I can’t decide between either! Please help with middle names for both but the name “Leah Meredith” is something I’m considering
How nice to see a [name_u]Corey[/name_u]! That was one of my favorite names when I was a kid and I’ll always have a soft spot for it. It’s not one you hear every day!
If you love [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], my first thought was [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], although those might be more popular than you want. Other names that have similar feels to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]…
Lillian is cute! I love the nn [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]/Lillie but it has the same ending as [name_u]Corey[/name_u], one of my sons. However the full name [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is definitely one to put on the list!
I like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] mentioned above!
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] ? Maybe too unisex for your taste!
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] ~ I feel like no one is really naming their girls [name_f]Leah[/name_f] these days but to me it’s classic and strong like your boys names!
Wow, quite refreshing to see a [name_u]Corey[/name_u] on a little kid.
Maybe you’d like
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] (this was a precious suggestion but I think it would be nice)
[name_u]Lisa[/name_u] (feels kinda like [name_u]Corey[/name_u], a little uncommon but heard of)
[name_f]April[/name_f] (seems to mesh well with [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u])
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f] (Nickname dani wouldn’t work with [name_u]Corey[/name_u] because of the repeated sounds, but [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is kinda cool - or even [name_f]Elle[/name_f] on its own)
[name_u]Marion[/name_u]/Marian (seems to fit well with [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u])
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] (more classic like [name_u]James[/name_u] but also on the rise)
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] (seems uncommon but also classic)
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] (seems to fit well with the boys)
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (a short name that is kinda uncommon)
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] (popular like [name_u]James[/name_u], but feels solid)
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] (uncommon but heard of)
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] (seems to match stylistically)
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (seems to match stylistically)
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/Vivien/Vivienne (not too common and fits the style)
Wow!! [name_f]Leah[/name_f] is something I’ve never though of before! It’s so gentle and dainty yet works on all ages! I’m usually not into names ending in a or ah but [name_f]Leah[/name_f] found a soft spot
Stella is a gem! Wasn’t thinking about it before but its one to put in the books. Only downside is that many many girls have this name and I don’t know how much I like the basic “ella” name. [name_u]Corey[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] does have a cute ring!
Leah is becoming a hit! I’m glad so many people like the sound of it because I love it too! [name_u]Corey[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_f]Leah[/name_f]: quite the trio!
Starring the names I like the most for fitting the criteria, and for having a similar feel as her big brothers’ names.
I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]! **
Two other names that I think of when I think of [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] are:
[name_u]Beverly[/name_u] **
[name_u]Mallory[/name_u].** This name admittedly has an initial A vowel like [name_u]James[/name_u], but it’s not at all the same vowel sound, if that distinction is sufficient.
Names w/ first vowel of ‘U’ : To differentiate from the O in [name_u]Corey[/name_u] and the A in [name_u]James[/name_u], I was trying to think of some names where the first vowel was a U. But still no terminal -a, like [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
[name_f]Muriel[/name_f] (nooo idea why this name popped into my head first…)
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] **
[name_f]Judy[/name_f] / Judith
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] **
Names w/ first vowel of I and E (long and short vowel sounds):
Meadow is a lovely name! However I’m not too into nature names for my children. It’s a name to adore, but not for my daughter. I’ve used [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] in stories I’ve written in the past and it’s very cute
I actually love [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] most from your list, but then it got edited off of it. The other ones are good too.
Here are my thoughts-
Meredith-It’s honestly not my personal favorite, but it’s a perfectly nice name that fits your criteria really well. Fairly simple, feminine but not frilly, strong, grows up well, not popular, sounds pretty good w/Corey & [name_u]James[/name_u]. All of that nice stuff.
Neve-I love it spelled [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], which is more authentic. But it is a little tricky if you’re looking for a simple spelling that you’re not going to have to explain a lot. [name_f]Neve[/name_f] just doesn’t look as good to me, but w/my eyes closed I love the sound of it. It’s sleek & posh & feminine but not girly girl. Nice w/your crew also.
Leah-This seems like the best fit w/Corey & [name_u]James[/name_u], & it’s very pretty. Feels classic but not tired. Simple & not too terribly popular.
Summer-This is just such a happy chill name. I really like it! It feels a little bit different style than your boys’ names, but it doesn’t not fit. I like it, because it’s hard to think of [name_f]Summer[/name_f] (the season, but also the name) and not smile.
OK so as far as I can tell you’re looking for middles for [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] at this point? It would be helpful to know something about the surname (how many syllables, prominent sounds, what it starts/ends with), but here goes:
