Sisters - Coralie and Annelise? Questions on spelling & pronunciation

Expecting baby number two, and if it’s a girl, my current favorite name for [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]'s little sister would be [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]. I think they are both such beautiful names and I love the nn options of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!
My biggest delimma (besides convincing my hubby of what a perfect name it is:)) is choosing the best spelling. I feel like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is going to be such a difficult spelling for any non-nameberries. Originally I was thinking I liked [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], but I forgot about the option of [name_f]Annelise[/name_f], and I think I like that better. Is it totally butchering the original name to change the spelling to make it easier to use in [name_u]America[/name_u]? Also, from what I understand [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is actually pronounced more like ann-uh-leez-uh??? I’m looking for the three syllable pronunciation of ann-uh-LEES.
Thanks for any input you can give!

I would definitely use [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] or [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]…

would not use the last “a” in [name_f]Anna[/name_f] …definitely use the “e”…

Pronounced an a leese

Well, all three names would be pronounced -lee-ze, if you’re using the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation. But since you don’t, all three names have three syllables only.
My preffered spelling is [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. In the end it’s only one letter away from [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] and I do think people can remember one more letter. It’s also closer to [name_f]Liesel[/name_f]/[name_f]Liesl[/name_f] that way.

I love the name! My personal preference is for the [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] sound lovely together.

[name_f]Annalise[/name_f] is currently the most popular spelling in [name_u]America[/name_u] (it ranked at #458 last year). The other spellings didn’t rank.

The [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] spelling is originally [name_m]German[/name_m], and in [name_m]German[/name_m] it is pronounced with four syllables. However, I think most English speakers are likely to use the three syllable pronunciation.

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear positive opinions on the name. Also looking for middle names if anyone has any good ideas.

I think [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] would work fine  I love how well [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] go together!
For middle names, how about:

[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]

I personally would stick to the original spelling [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] - I don’t think it’s too difficult at all and every [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] that I have known has had this spelling and pronunciation [name_f]Ann[/name_f]-uh-LEES. One did acknowledge that it should be pronounced An-uh-leez-uh but she was never, ever called that and she never said it that way herself.

I personally would the spelling [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] as all I can see if the word ‘anal’ despite their being two n’s in there! [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is an incorrect spelling [name_f]IMO[/name_f], whereas [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is correct and only one letter short of [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] so would it make that much difference?!

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Portia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] are great together and I like [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a nn. This is my preferred spelling-- I think it’s the easiest for Americans.

Some possible combos:

[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Garnet[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_u]Vida[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]! I had seriously considered adding it to my list a couple days ago, but I decided against it in favor of other names I’m liking more right now. I agree–[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] are adorable together!

I’m all for the traditional spelling. I just think [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] looks daintier and lacy, which I love. I’ve heard that technically, [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is the proper Danish (I think?) spelling, but in Danish it’s still pronounced with four syllables. This is what I found on forvo:

In English, though, they’d all be said the same way, so I wouldn’t be too concerned. I think [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] is the most popular spelling here in the US, but all three spellings are really lovely. My sister went to school with an Annalyse (which looks more like “analyze” to me, but it’s still nice!), and I know a little girl in my church named [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] (said like [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-leese, or maybe more like [name_m]AH[/name_m]-nah-leese). I think it’s one of those names that gets a lot of variant spellings, so regardless, it’s going to have to be spelled out. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] or [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] are the most visually appealing to me, but I also have a huge spot in my heart for Annelies (although it looks like “[name_f]Anne[/name_f] lies” to a lot of people), which was [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Frank[/name_m]'s full name.

When I was considering it for my own list, I had considered [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f] or [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f]. Are there any family names you want to use? What about:

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Nadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]

Good luck!
