My daughter’s name is Eva. I love the name Eden, but I don’t intend a biblical reference for either name. Is it inevitable that people will make a biblical connection? Also, is it too matchy with the same beginning sound?
If you don’t like the biblical connection, you may want to find a new name.
Stylistically, [name_u]Eden[/name_u] doesn’t go best with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] in my opinion. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is such a classic name, but [name_u]Eden[/name_u] seems a bit trendy even though the Garden of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is in the Bible. Perhaps you’d like [name_f]Edith[/name_f]?
I’d be happy to give you other suggestions if you’d like
I’m not sure. I think the connection isn’t super noticeable. It’s cute! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the combo
Thank you! Yes, suggestions are definitely welcome! I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f], I’m hesitant about the single syllable since our last name is as well.
I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] are great sister names!
I also think both names are well known enough that the Biblical association is almost irrelevant.
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] is similar to [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and would be lovely with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] too
I don’t think they’re too close!
Here are some names that are similar in style (feminine, classic, timeless) in case you are looking for more suggestions:
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]/[name_f]Margo[/name_f]/[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]/[name_f]Luciana[/name_f]
I think they work well as sisters. My mind did go to the Biblical connection, but it’s [name_f]Eve[/name_f] in the Bible, not [name_f]Eva[/name_f].
My problem with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is that they are both 2 syllable and start with a long E.
To be honest, I noticed the biblical connection instantly. That may not be a deal breaker for you (depending on your relationship with religion), but I can definitely guarantee others will notice it, since [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is so similar to [name_f]Eve[/name_f], and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] was in [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I also do think it’s too matchy with the beginning sounds being the same. Since there’s a combination of concerns here, I would personally choose a different name to avoid these issues.
I immediately noticed the connection. The Garden of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] aside, [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] feel stylistically mismatched. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is modern and sporty, whereas [name_f]Eva[/name_f] feels sassy and girly.
