  • Yes, absolutely! : 9 (21%)
  • No, too unfamiliar/odd: 34 (79%)

I say no, not because it’s too unfamiliar or odd but because it’s too similar to “sixteen”, and the “six” part is too close to “sex” for me.

I love all the other ideas you’ve thought of. [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is my favorite boy name, so that would be my pick!

I like it, and I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Similar names to me are [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Justus[/name_m], [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m], [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], Esben, [name_m]Ragnar[/name_m]…

Agree with everything @sparkleninja18 said. Lots of teasing potential, and looks too much like a misspelling of sixteen.

I thought it was fine until I said it out loud and heard sexting. Might be an accent thing though.

Like other PP I heard “sexting” when I said it out loud

I voted no, but I wanted to add that I went to school with a girl named Saxton who was never teased for her name (the poor girl was teased for pretty much everything else though!) and I knew a whole gaggle of kids with the last name Sexton (whose mother’s name was [name_f]Gaye[/name_f]!!) and again, no one ever mentioned it publicly, haha. So it could work.

I generally like unusual names, but [name_m]Sixten[/name_m] feels a bit too out there. It reminds me of those ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] names like [name_m]Sixtus[/name_m], etc. It does also look really similar to Sixteen so people might read it as that. I don’t hear “sexting” when saying it but I did think that the “six” part is rather close to the word sex… though that might just come to mind because I’ve seen so many comments on Nameberry saying that names bring up sexual references, and I’d never have thought that on my own!

What about [name_m]Saxon[/name_m]? I knew of someone named that and I don’t think he had a problem with it.

My problem with it is actually because it’s too familiar. I think I’m hearing “Sixteen” like others have said. And the “Six” prefix makes me hear “sick”. American kids will probably hear something revolving "sex’, I know I would’ve as a young little wierdo haha. I really like @bonfireazaelea’s suggestion of [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] instead. Your other names listed are very sweet/handsome! I love all of them actually and they sound great as brothers.

[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Jenson[/name_m] - prefer [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] but maybe just a personal thing

[name_m]Viggo[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]/[name_m]Casper[/name_m] and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] are the first Scandinavian names that came to mind. Well the last two aren’t originally but they’re used there- are you talking origins or in practice? Maybe you’d like [name_m]Thurston[/name_m]. Or [name_m]Larsen[/name_m] nn [name_m]Lars[/name_m]?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Felix[/name_m]? [name_m]Leon[/name_m]? [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]? [name_m]Desmond[/name_m]? Idk why those feel right for you.

No, too close to sex

Thanks everyone for the input! The things I was worried about were pretty repeatedly brought up, so I guess those are valid concerns. I will have to really think about this one!

@808 thanks for the suggestions! I am a huge fan of [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], and I really [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]/[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] too. And to answer your question- I am open to all ideas, not all of our favored names are Scandinavian in use or origin, but would especially appreciate suggestions for names that are Scandinavian in origin

No, it’s a little too odd.

What about names like:

[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]

[name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_u]Peyton[/name_u]
[name_u]Easton[/name_u]

@ender thx, I mentioned [name_m]Simon[/name_m] in my original post, but I don’t like any of the others

I know an adult Sixt in Germany, and oddly enough no one ever raised an eyebrow about his name or even asked about it (and Germans are some pretty conventional namers).

So based on that, I feel that it works with no issue.

@vc2013 I am not surprised to hear that- [name_m]Sixten[/name_m] is a top 100 name in [name_u]Sweden[/name_u], and definitely not unheard of in most Nordic countries. I have a cousin in Finland named [name_m]Sixten[/name_m], not sure how popular it is there…glad at least one other person thinks it could work over here!
