Sloane for a boy?

Is this too feminine these days?

It probably shouldn’t be, but for me it is. The only [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] I know is a girl.

I thought it was a boys name? Interesting, I’m curious about this now too

I’ve seen it on a both a girl and a boy. But the boy spelled it [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] which seems more masculine to me than [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]. I know that’s silly becuase it is a unisex name just a different spelling.

Pretty sure it was originally a boys name and I think it still sounds strongly masculine. What makes it seem slightly feminine for me is simply that the most famous [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] for my generation would be [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_m]Bueller[/name_m]'s girlfriend. Except for that reference though, it seems all male to me.

I would spell it [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] for a boy. It sounds completely masculine to me.

Thanks everyone…I kinda like it…especially with the e dropped off.

P.S. I have the same [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_m]Bueller[/name_m] context, I keep picturing that lovely actress.
