Unless other people call her [name_f]Melly[/name_f] at school, ‘Smelly [name_f]Melly[/name_f]’ does not automatically pop into my head. I think you will be fine with having that nickname!
I suppose that’s a possibility but it doesn’t seem like a huge problem or one that I would probably even think of if you hadn’t pointed it out.
For some peace of mind though my name is [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] which rhymes with some not-so-great words like saggy, baggy, shaggy, naggy, and I was never called Saggy [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or anything.
I wouldn’t worry. [name_m]Even[/name_m] going by [name_f]Melly[/name_f] at school, I don’t think it would be a big problem. Maybe she would go by [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] at school though? Either way, I wouldn’t stress about it.
My name is [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] and I go by the nicknames of [name_u]Mel[/name_u], [name_f]Milly[/name_f], Melsie and [name_f]Melly[/name_f]. Some people have also called my Mellow, [name_f]Mindie[/name_f] and [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. I’ve been called Smelly [name_f]Melly[/name_f], but only by close friends that were clearly saying it to tease me, which is never bothered me, this only happened a handful of times. I am happy to deal with it since I have a unique name just thought some personal experience might help. I think [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
It’s a beautiful name! My parents were going to name me [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but after they came up with Sour Grapes it went out the window! I honestly wouldn’t worry about it. [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is gorgeous and if your still really worried about it maybe give her another her nickname like [name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Meleah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a beautiful name!
My name is [name_u]Marian[/name_u] but I went by the nickname [name_u]Mell[/name_u] (it’s my initials.) A few of my friends playfully called me Smelly [name_f]Melly[/name_f] when we were older, but it didn’t bother me.
The beauty of the name [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is that there are many nicknames that she could have; [name_u]Mel[/name_u], [name_u]Mell[/name_u], [name_f]Melly[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f]… [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Millie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] could work. Maybe [name_f]Melly[/name_f] would be what you call her but she prefers a different name at school.
I think [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely.
I would be inclined to use [name_u]Mel[/name_u] or [name_f]Milly[/name_f] as nicknames, but [name_f]Melly[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], etc, could also be used. “Smelly [name_f]Melly[/name_f]” wouldn’t have occurred to me if it hadn’t been pointed out. Unless your child is actually smelly, I wouldn’t imagine it would ever be an issue.
Also, remember that though you may love [name_f]Melly[/name_f], she may decide to go by any other number of nicknames at school, or by her full name. Once children are in school, at least after elementary school, they tend to make that decision themselves.
I’d see Smelly [name_f]Melly[/name_f] as a non issue tbh. I grew up with a [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] who was rarely, if ever called this, and when she was, it was an affectionate name that her mother called her. I think [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] would be fine. You could also change the spelling of [name_f]Meleah[/name_f] if the thought of Smelly [name_f]Melly[/name_f] bothers you too much.
I talked to a young woman the other day and told her how pretty her name is - [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. She thanked and told me she liked her now but growing up some kids especially boys called her [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] bottom. I guess they can come up with them if they have a mind to.
My name is ripe for it - [name_f]Kellie[/name_f]
But I only got it once in a while and affectionately from family.
I guess you always have to consider what the nickname could be but it won’t happen all the time.
I have a very tease-able name, but the only person that used them was my sister. BUT, I do have a name that I share with a famous pop-star, and people will call me [My shared name] [Popstar’s last name]; i.e. [name_f]Britney[/name_f] Spears instead of [name_f]Britney[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m] or whatever. So unless there’s like a huge culture phenomenon that includes that name, most kids most likely won’t experience that level of creativity in their bullies haha
